We rescue cats and have quite a few of them, most of them quite healthy, but we have two who have a very serious allergic problem, supposedly caused by fleas. I say supposedly because that's what the vet says, and although they have been given allergy shots, sprayed with Frontline spray and a number of other products, most recently Sergeant's 3-way Protection in the gold box, nothing has worked. We are to the point that both cats have buckets on their heads, and yet they are STILL managing to reach some of the affected areas, such as their legs, backs, stomachs, etc. They chew and pull hair out until they make themselves bleed and rip the flesh straight off. We have never had problems like this before. We would appreciate any help and advice on what to use, try, etc. So far, we've got quite a list of things not to use because they're not doing any good but not a single thing that does help. Please help!!

I alternate between prescription frontline and feline advantage. My vet wants me to start using Revolution. Annabelle is also allergic to fleas- right now I know there are some in my apartment because she's pulling out the fur by her bottom again. What I do is put them on the prescription meds and rotate them. I also vaccum every day and shampoo my carpets once a month, including shampooing the upholstry. Those little fleas are hard as heck to get rid of, if they are even in the environment Annabelle starts to have problems. Clean everything, especially the corners and areas where the carpet meets the wall, or in the cracks of hardwood floors. You might consider buying a flea bomb, if you can find a place to stay over night with your kits- as it could harm them. The bomb/foggers work pretty well. The little suckers can be tracked in on your shoes, so I can feel your pain with getting rid of them. Good luck!!

You might also want to get a second opinion from another vet, just in case it isn't fleas, but something else they are allergic to.
