No sure if I am posting this in the right area, sorry if I'm not. I was wondering if the 'blue' color of a cats fur comes in many breeds or is it just russian blues. I love the color and can not afoard a pure breed cat and was wanting just a domestic cat with the blue color. Is their such a thing? If so, why are they hard to find? I have not seen any.

Many thanks!

That would be a feline genetics question and probably would be best asked in the breeder's corner.

If you keep your eyes peeled at local shelters it is very likely that you will either come across a purebred russian blue or some other reasonable facsimile
It is not that common of a colour but it will depend on what cats are commonly available in your area.

Blue is the dilute variety of black and is seen in many breeds, It's seen in the Devon Rex, Cornish Rex, British Shorthair, Persian, European Shorthair, Korat, American Shorthair, Abyssinian, Somali... well, in most breeds where more than one color is allowed.

There are tons of blue domestic cats in the world who are in need of a great home. You don't have to go to a breeder for one. Just keep a sharp eye out.
