My one-year-old cat has a cold....runny nose, congestion, and watery eyes. Does anyone have any home remedies that may help? She weighs about 6 lbs. She has already been on one round of Clavamox antibiotic, but that only prevents secondary infections. Has anyone tried Vitamin C? If so, what dosage? Any other ideas? Thanks for the advice in advance.

Please don't use home remedies on your cat unless your vet knows and approves. Lots of things over the counter that are good for us, can turn out deadly for your cat. Use care and caution when trying anything that you have read about on the internet.

I am working with my vet on this one. Antibiotics don't seem to improve her symptoms. Are there any vet medications for cold symptoms?

There's no place like home
There are lots of directions that a vet can take with a FeLV cat. They may treat as a normal URI (antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections with vaporizors or steamers to help relief symptoms), or treat with a regime of medications that can be helpful to controlling the opportunistic infections that come with FeLV. There is no way that anyone can give you advice without seeing your baby, and there is no way anyone can give you advice without knowing what stage of the FeLV disease he is in. Antibiotics don't help the common cold and you shouldn't expect them to help a cold in cats. You should ask your vet about the various medical or perhaps holistic treatments used for FeLV cats. If he is not familiar with them, consider a cat specialist if you can find one in your area.

I am sorry to hear that your baby is not feeling well and hope you can get over this.

I would talk to your vet about Lysine and Interferon. Both help boost the immune system and can help a cat get over a cold faster. In the meantime, you might try a humidified room (like a steamy bathroom). Sometimes that will help the symptoms.
