This is not really a behavior problem. I was not sure where to post it.

I need to know if a Poinsettia plant is poisonous to a cat. My male cat ate mine. I have heard it can be and I have also been told it is fine for them. My cat is acting fine no change in behavior other than eating the plant.

He did this for several days before my husband caught him eating the plant. I just thought the plant was dying. See I am not very good with plants. My husband bought it for me and I put it on the dining room table. I kept asking my husband what was wrong with the plant? He said did you water it?
No I had forgot to water it. Anyway my husband saw him eating the plant.

I never thought to put it away form the cats they never bothered plants before. Now I am worried he is going to get sick.

Can someone tell me if my cat is going to be ok? Like I said he in not acting any different than he normally would. And is a Poinsettia harmful to a cat?

Thank you in advance.

He may vomit or have loose stool, but unless he ate the whole thing that's all you should expect. Make sure you keep all miseltoe out of reach, that is very toxic.

Thank you so much Sandie. He only chewed some of the leaves. I feel so much better knowing he is going to be fine. And thnks for the warning about miseltoe. We don't have any in the house and we won't unless it is plastic. Thanks again.
