My boyfriend's mother (for all intents and purposes other then legal, my mother-in-law) passed away on Saturday.

This was totally unexpected...she was only 42...she had a freak accident in her house. She was a difficult woman to deal with sometimes, but she loved him very much and she was always really good to me. We'll miss her a lot.
Since his parents were divorced and he's an only child, my BF is the sole heir and he's having to take care of all the arrangements. He's 25...he's never lost anyone close to him before and this is really hard on him.
And his mother's family is a pain in the butt to deal with...they're not doing much of anything to help out, other than getting someone to dig the grave.
And they won't pay for a THING.
Luckily we're able to handle the expenses.
rrrgggg It's been a rough couple of days, and it sucks having to be away from home and our kitties on top of all this.
Any positive energy would be much appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear your news.
It's never easy to lose someone, but it's that much more tragic when it's someone young and the death is completely unexpected. My heart goes out to you and your BF.

I'm so sorry to hear about your BF's mom. I feel so horrible for your BF having to go through all of this (and you too!!!).

Did his mom have any pets?

I am so very sorry! it's one thing to handle the emotional loss but coupled with the logistics of all the paperwork, arrangements - everything - it can just be overwhelming. You two will pull together and take care of each other.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I know how tough it can be. I have had to plan two funerals (my grandfather then my dad) in the past 2 1/2 years.

You two are very kind to take care of everything. I'm sure his mom is watching and is thankful.

My thoughts are with you and your boyfriend in this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss! And to not be offered any help is just a shame. Like you said, she was your mother-in-law in all but name. Maybe there someone in your family who can help with the arrangements?

I am glad that you have each other at this time. You will grow closer as you heal from this terrible tragedy!

Please look after yourselves at this time. I wish you all the strength and vibes to get through this, having lost my uncle only 2 weeks ago now I know how difficult it is, but it does get better
