I smoke just about every day. Usually after work/before dinner I'll have a few bowls and that'll do me most of the time. I find it relaxing and it does get me cooking dinner. I don't smoke and drive. Also, I'm not much of a drinker AT ALL. Alcohol makes me feel junky, whether I have one beer or six, so I pretty much avoid it unless it's a special occassion (like a toast or something, or someone's birthday celebration at the bar......then I might have a drink or two).
My parents both used to smoke when they were younger. My mom doesn't anymore, but my dad still does and I've smoked with him on multiple occassions. We go out on the back deck late at night, relax, chat about our lives/catch up and smoke a j. It's not really any different that having a beer in the same situation (at least, IMO).

I've tried it a handful of times. And each time, it makes me hallucinate BIG TIME, I get really paranoid and scared, and go into "fight mode". I also get very, very angry... it just comes out of nowhere. Then I go into coma-mode where I just lay and stare til it wears off. Then I'm happy & fine.

I don't mind the hallucinating thing cuz that happens if I don't take my sleep meds, so I can deal with that... but it's the anger/paranoia that is bothersome. Not so much for me cuz I'm a paranoid & angry gal anyways, but, for those AROUND me, it's hard to deal with!

I'd rather drink a few good beers or knock back some martini's anyday, over the wacky weed.

I am absolutely no stranger to marijuana. I currently smoke regularly. My parents smoked pot regularly while I was growing up, but I didnt know/realize this until into my teens. They did not do it around me, and if they ever did I was young enough to have NO IDEA what was going on. Now, as an adult, I truly enjoy sharing a bowl with my mom and catching up with her. I fully agree with Leli, this is no different than sharing a drink would be. That said, I completely feel that marijuana is a lesser evil than alcohol. Why it is kept illegal astounds me. I fail to see that the fact it is illegal deters anyone from smoking. To those who dont smoke, would changing the law change your mind on this? To those who do, would changing the law do anything other than not make you a criminal?

I don't smoke, but, like I said earlier, I am all for legalizing the tweed.
I've been rip-roaring drunk (my college was one of the top party schools in the country ) and I see people smoke the kind all the time. To me, there is absolutely no comparison which is more dangerous- alcohol all the way (though I am in no ways a teetotaler). Please remember, this is IMO.
PS- Just an interesting fact. Did y'all know that alcohol is the #1 date rape drug??

I didn't know that, but it makes perfect sense.

BTW, from my experience, I haven't seen anyone get violent from smoking too much weed - silly, hungry, and lazy, for sure, but never violent.

Exactly. Sometimes it's even hard to make it up a flight of stairs! I stay out of public because I will just laugh at everything and make an ass out of myself, so getting violent from weed alone is highly unlikely... violent laughter is about the extent of it. Though I have been paranoid at times when stoned, but mostly when I was younger and had limited experience smoking weed.

I have never tried it but if others wanna do it that is their business

I used to do it very occasionally in my mid-teens, but haven't since then. I enjoyed it, and I'd still do it very occasionally if I still had easy access to it (I can't be bothered to go out and buy and pay for it myself, and I don't hang out with anyone who does it anymore) - I see nothing wrong with it in moderation - in moderation, it's far less dangerous than alcohol, IMO. Also, it's impossible to become physically addicted to marijuana - one can become psychologically addicted to it, but one can become psychologically addicted to just about anything - food, shopping, a person, work, you name it.

I tried it once my first year of college and totally hated it. I got really freaked out because at one point I was sitting on one end of my friends bed and had looked at myself sitting there in their closet mirror, then the next thing I knew I was on the OTHER side of the bed! I had NO IDEA how I got there!! Other than that I ended up staring at people for really long periods of time and wouldn't notice until they would give me weird looks, and I was TOTALLY paranoid. I even hid underneath the computer desk. Obviously I react pretty stupidly to the stuff. I don't really care if others do it though, as long as I don't have to smell it much. The smell nearly makes me puke.

I was a daily potsmoker from around the age of 13 till about 25 or so.
Aside from being perpetually broke, it thankfully, never really affected my functionality as far as work, paying bills, basic things of that sort.
Even when you aren't stoned, regular use seemed to give you (or at least me) a permanant state of paranoia as far as the authorites were concerned.

It's nice now, to be out on the road, have a cop driving behind me without it making my skin crawl.

The Swiss vote practically every year on whether or not to make it legal. It's already tolerated here and there are shops here where you can go in and buy "pot related products".. ahem... I've tasted pot pancakes and pot pasta and I can't recommend either of them

In Amsterdam you can walk into a "coffee shop" and buy small amounts of whatever type of pot you want from a menu! I kid you not, it's like Starbucks, just without the coffee

"Each to their own", I say....

Isn't it still legal in Spain, too?

Its tolerated to a certain degree in Canada.
They have Compassionate centres in Vancouver and you can walk down the street and smoke a joint without a cop's second glance (I don't think its worth the paper to bust them)...You can also buy it at "coffee shops" there too but its word of mouth and not exactly legal. They do bust these places from time to time but they are back in business the next day.

I know of one place where you stand in line, so to speak, and they call you when its your turn.

I don't smoke...Or at least regularly. I will have it if its passed around at a party but I can't tolerate much at all or I am heaving in the bathroom or comatose.
I also say strange things and just learn to sit there silent...and that isn't any fun at all

Could be, I've no idea. Just out of curiosity, are there any Spanish members on TCS?
