Marijuana stays in you system for approximately 14-30 days on AVERAGE and is also dependent on how heavy the use is. I'm sorry but as far as your bf's sil being a wonderful mom, I can't see how her regular use sends a good message to her kids, even if she does not use around them (depending on their ages) they know. What they have learned, or will learn is, life is about getting high. I'm basing this on what you called "regular" use. I feel the same way about alcohol.
Maybe I'm a prude, well sobeit, it turns my stomach to see anyone high, whether it be illegal drugs or legal ones like alcohol and when kids are in the picture, well don't get me started on that.
I smoke every day. Right now, I work as a technician at a veterinary clinic and prior to that I worked for two years as a teacher in a private preschool. Obviousbly, not jobs that require you to ask "Would you like fries with that?".
I'd like to think I've done very well at both of these jobs. I was a head teacher for the summer camp program and a co-head teacher in the infant room. In my current job, I have learned almost everything that techs that have been there for years know. And in a short amount of time.
I also graduated from school with honors and am out on my own supporting myself.
Not to mention the fact that not only does my family smoke but I smoke with
my mom and step dad. Often. That doesn't make my mother a bad person. She works hard and tries her best to take care of her family.
I grew up around my father (RIP) who was a raging alcoholic. At one point he would drink a 5th of rum a day. He also smoked pot regularly.
I have not grown up to think that "life is about getting high". More so, I have grown up knowing what addictions can do you to. My father did set an example... of what not to do.
As for it staying in your system.. yes it can stay that long but it doesn't mean your mental capacity is affected as such. Normal time frame is 1 - 4 hours. With effects lasting as long as (but not normally) 24. http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabi..._effects.shtml
If it were legalized crime rates would drop.
"In 2002, 45.3 percent of the 1,538,813 total arrests for drug abuse violations were for marijuana -- a total of 697,082. Of those, 613,986 people were arrested for marijuana possession alone. This is a slight decrease from 2000, when a total of 734,497 Americans were arrested for marijuana offenses, of which 646,042 were for possession alone."http://www.drugsense.org/wodclock.htm
And money would be saved. According to a 1993 (obviously the figures would increase in time) Federal analysis. The government would save over $1,000,000,000 with the legalization of drugs. This includes all drugs but as you can see from the last fact.. many drug-related arrests were due to marijuana.http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/library/savings.htm
This is a quote from report commissioned by Pres. Richard Nixon back in 1972. "Considering the range of social concerns in contemporary America, marihuana does not, in our considered judgment, rank very high. We would deemphasize marihuana as a problem."http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/.../nc/ncmenu.htm
