Hi

Tammy is due very soon to give birth and I am just wondering as I will be new to it all, where do the kittens go to the toilet before they begin to use the litter tray a few weeks down the line?

As this is one of the many things I am unaware of, if anyone could offer advice about other things it will be much appreciated!

Thanks

Sarah

Their mom will stimulate them to pee and poop and in the process of cleaning them, she will eat the pee and poop. Considering that all they will be getting for the first few weeks is mom's milk...it's just another version of "recycling".

Hi Katie

That helps me out a little although i never expected that! Surely it must be harmful to mum cat?!

At what point do i try to litter train then?

Actually....mom will show them how to use the litterbox as well. My foster kittens are about 5 weeks of age....one day last week I came home and there were little poops in the box....so obviously they are learning what the box is for.
