My cat, Julie had 3 wonderful kittens about 5 and a half weeks ago. I already know since the day they were born, I have gotten way too attached to them. I had always planned on helping them starting to eat and help Julie with them as much as I could. But I had always planned on getting them to the SPCA as soon as they were 10-12 weeks old. They are almost 6 weeks now, and just yesterday my dad gave me the choice of keeping them. (All of them.) We already have 4 other cats (including mother) and I think that it would just be too many cats. But I feel really bad about practically raising these kittens together with Julie and I am so attached to these kittens that I don't know what's the right thing to do.
If we were to give the kittens to the SPCA, I would feel good about them getting good (hopefully) homes. But I have this little voice in my head that tells me that they just might not. I am seriously concerned about their well being and health. It worries me so much.
But if we were to keep the kittens, we would have 7(!) cats. My dad has said that they would have to be indoor/outdoor cats along with the other three cats we have (Julie is indoor/outdoor but hasn't been out since she first got pregnant, yes, we're planning on getting her spayed as soon as the kittens are weaned). I would really prefer the kittens to stay inside if we kept them, but that's alot to keep track of. I don't think I can watch the door everytime it opens so they won't escape outside. I already do that for Baby (the only inside cat we have) and it makes me so paranoid to watch his every move when people come over or we're bringing in something big into the house through the front door.
I honestly think we should still give them away. But since this new thing my dad brought up about keeping them, it makes my emotions stir. I make a huge mistake in getting wayyyy too attached to them, but it's already happened. I know I will cry a million rivers when we gve them away, but I think I made the decision.
Another option would be to just keep one kitten, but it break my heart to choose one over the other two because I love them so much. They all each have a personality and agreat one at that.
I'm sorry I started blabbering, but it has really made me depressed about what to do.

Any advice or pros/cons anyone could give me to help me with my decision about this?

I think your original plan is a good one. Is the SPCA a no kill?? If so, they will keep your kittens until they find homes.

Yes, the SPCA is a no-kill shelter but I am worried that they won't get good homes.

What is your defination of a "good" home?? If it is one where the people cherish the kitten, then I'm sure the SPCA will do a fine job doing that.

I know. :/ but I am so paranoid about it. Is there any way of keeping contact with whoever gets them? I'm not sure if SPCA does that.

Why don't you just try finding homes yourself? Then you will know who takes them. You could use the SPCA, your vet, and any local humane societies to advertise. You could even ask for proof of a pre-paid exam/vaccine/spay or neuter from one of the local vets!

I foster kittens for my local SPCA and sometimes I too worry about if they get good homes.

But honestly, will being indoor/outdoor cats in a family of 7 be the best thing for them?

I think at least a majority of them should go up for adoption. The SPCA probably has an adoption processs and application that anyone has to go through that might be more rigorous than what you could do (you can check), but you probably can't check up on them. If you do it yourself you could check up on them.

Good luck.
