Hi,

I'm considering buying a disposal system for the litter, instead of using baggies and making trips to the garbage, but I don't know which one would be a better buy.

I've seen a lot of positive reviews here for the Litter Locker but nothing on the Litter Champ. Has anyone used the Litter Champ? What's your opinion??
It "seems" like it would be more economical where the replacement bags are concerned, so I'm leaning towards the Litter Champ, but I'm concerned about odor control.

Thanks,
Ann

, Ann! I've been using the Litter Locker for a few years now, and really like it. When I first saw ads for the Litter Champ, I thought it would be more practical, i.e., easier to use, because you apparently don't have to get down on your knees to turn a wheel to "lock in" odors. Then I realized that I'm already down on my knees to scoop, so for me, the Litter Locker is more practical. I guess it depends on whether your litter boxes are on the floor, or elevated.

I just use an air-tight storage container:

(the small one without wheels). Sold as a pet food storage container at Petsmart.

I use double four-gallon plastic bags inside. There is absolutely no odor that escapes. Inexpensive and effective!!

We keep an old tidy cats tub outside and i just toss the bags in there and when its full Fiance takes it to the trash and empties it. Of course we have a deck and it just nestles nicely in the corner..but the litterlocker sounds like a nice item to have!

I am not too crazy about the litter locker. First, I always forget which way to turn the darn thing. Second, it doesn't seem to hold much. I never hearf of litter champ, however.

According to the ads, it should hold two weeks' worth of "scoops". In my experience, one week's worth, if you're using clumping litter, is more realistic.

I actually really love the Litter Locker--we have two, one by each box. It makes scooping the box really easy and fast. I live in an apartment, so it's nice not to have to remove the waste from the apartment every day. Also, I think I clean the box more often, because I don't have to think about getting out a bag, when I'm going to remove it, etc.

I've never heard of the Litter Champ, either, but I can't figure out exactly how it works. Do you have to tear off and remove the bag each time? I think the Litter Locker is pretty economical in how it uses the bags. They're expensive, but it doesn't seem like the bag is ever wasted.

I got the Litter Locker when I was using clay litter. I had no problems with it as far as changing the wheel, etc. I also cleaned the litter twice a day and with 3 cats, it lasted for about 2 weeks.
