New little kitten..

Hi Everyone!

I'm new on this site...I live in Southern California with my husband, Randy, and our 4 cats.

Two are indoor, Opal (abt 8 years young) and Diamond (abt 6 years young), I say about because we adopted them from "Luv a Pet". Opal is mostly white with a slight tinge of yellow along her spine. She is a quiet little girl with the sweetest temperament, her brother Diamond on the other hand is a little hellion on four paws Diamond is black and white and is nothing but trouble, we have nicknamed him 'Spazman' due to his antics But we love them both very much

Our other two kitties are Bootsie & Lucky. From what I understand, Bootsie used to belong to one of our neighbors, but she never took good care of Bootsie. Bootsie had 3-4 litter of kittens before my other neighbor (and friend), Helen and her son and daughter-in-law 'captured' her and took her in to get 'fixed' (sorry I forget the proper term). So for the next 7 years they took care of her (but she never wanted to live indoors), then I moved in with my husband and helped my friend take care of Bootsie. Now my friend is living in an assisted home and I have 'sole custody' of Bootsie. Bootsie is grey and white and has what we refer to as a 'smokers' meow Lucky actually used to belong to the people who lived in my house 10 years before my husband bought our house. But the gal had left her boyfriend and he moved and just left Lucky here to fend for herself. Again, my friend Helen started to look after Lucky and now I have 'sole custody' of Lucky also. Both Bootsie & Lucky are about 14-15 years young.

I have had cats all my life and at one point (while living with my parents) we had no less than 6 cats...all living indoors.

I am sorry I have such a long intro....but I love talking about my kitties and hearing about others kitties!

Hi Ana -

I'm in So. California too. You are so kind to take custody of Bootsie and Lucky. I had a cat that didn't like to come inside too - Norton. Are they friendly, do you pet them as well as feed them?

Welcome to TCS -- it's a great place and a great chance to talk about your kitties (and other stuff) with people who will listen with interest and pleasure.

Good Morning Katy!

Bootsie & Lucky do get along, although Lucky is definitely the dominant (I hope that is the right spelling!) of the two. At times I feel that Lucky is too aggressive to Bootsie, especially since Lucky is getting up in years.

Lucky is very friendly and wants to come into the house on her terms....which wouldn't be too bad IF I didn't have to go to work

Bootsie is not as friendly, she is very timid and not very trusting, even though I have been here for almost 7 years. But I know she trusts me somewhat because she (& Lucky) always sleeps on my Front or Back porches and lets me feed her Although at times in the past (before I adopted Opal & Diamond and before we got the screen doors) Bootsie would come into the house and a couple of times she let me pick her up and hold her. She is soooo light and the sweetest purr (although all cats have a wonderful purr)

I consider myself to be very lucky that they have let me into their lives and let me take care of them

Ana (Wow, this one looks just like my Opal...have to get my husband to put their pics on my 'puter!)
