Anyone up for a Southeast meet-up?

Woo hoo!
Looks like we have some takers!
So, here's where I had in mind.....the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL! I know it's a bit of a drive for some (6 hours for me), but it's a really, really great place to spend a long weekend. Let me know if we have any takers with this location or if we need somewhere that's friendlier to more TCSers. I'm aiming to get as many people as possible to our meet-up!

Hmmmm...the drive is too far for me, so I'd have to fly. It just all depends on where I'd stay. If I'm going all the way to Florida, I'd better stay a night or 2 so I can enjoy the beach/ocean!!!


I LOVE FLORIDA!!! So, any excuse I can find to go, I'm game!

If it does end up at the Big Cat Rescue and people want to stay the night without having to pay for it, I have a couple of pull out beds at my place and could house a couple of people here. It's a little over an hours drive from my place to Tampa, so it's not long at all and would be super fun to make that short drive with other TCSers in the car!

lol. Me too! Actually I drive 30 minutes to go anywhere! Grocery store, college, work... you name it! hehe. That is the one downside to living in the boonies. hehe

Hmmm... Tampa. That is a huge drive for me too. So I think I will have to pass on this get together. Maybe the next one I will be able to make it.

I am in Orlando 1 1/2 hrs away and I have a queen futon and a queen blow up mattress. So I could sleep 2 to 4 people (depending on how cozy you want to get) as well. I'm not at the beach but I do have pool and waterfront view.

I have a very tiny 2 bedroom house, but you're welcome over to meet the cats! I'd say that Clearwater Beach is about 45 or so minutes from Big Cat Rescue. I know a couple of good restaurants over that way if you are into seafood.

Due to a difference of opinions, I would personally bow out of meeting up at BCR. I'm not at all familiar with the Tampa area anymore, so I don't have any alternative input for a similarly cat related location.

BCR does a good job taking care of their cats, but I do so despise quite a few things they have done to countless people who provide the same or better care for these kind of cats. I've said what I want to say about BCR in other threads.... Sorry for the tangent, carry on

I realize that Tampa may be a bit out of the way for quite a few southern TCS-ers and I'd like as many people as possible to be able to attend the meet-up.
Katherine (katspixiedust) and I were thinking that maybe northern/panhandle FL or somewhere in GA may be a more central location for people to meet up.
Thoughts? Ideas?
All I have is a couch in my little 1BR apt., but I'd be glad to host something here in Savannah if anyone was interested

. Savannah is cool, Tampa is cool, Orlando is cool, etc....

What are the beaches in Savannah and Tampa like, Amy?? How far is it from Orlando to the nearest nice beach? Just asking because I'd like to spend a little time at the beach wherever we go

Well, IMO, the beaches on the Gulf Coast in FL are some of the best in the world. The water is so warm and clear. The beach here in Savannah (Tybee) is nice simply b/c it's nearby, but it is in no means the best beach. It's decent enough I guess.
Savannah is about 4-5 hours from Orlando and Tampa is about 1.5 hours from Orlando (Is that right Katherine).
That'd be REALLY cool to have a beachy TCS meet-up!
