when bf opens the door for me he acts like he just did the most wonderful thing in the world and looks at me expecting praise, and I just roll my eyes, so w/o positive reinforcement he has discontinued the door opening for the most part. I don't care. I can open my own dang door. It's the pickle jars that get me..

You are absolutely right about that!

My fiance does not open car doors for me. He has occasionally but it makes me feel funny for some reason. It just seems like a pain for me to have to wait for him to walk over to my side and then wait for him to get in as well. I guess if we go out on a actual date he will do it, but on any ordinary day I open my own.
He does open the pickle jars, kill bugs, take out the trash and mow the lawn, I think that's all the manly responsibilities I have around the house

OOPS, I better be careful saying that, I mean all of the things I personally feel he should take care of being stronger and braver than I

Heidi, you just have to let the drinks fly out of your hands right in his direction a few times for him to get the hint

Hold what? open what??? I don't know! Seattle is just so granola, it makes me ill sometimes. It's like if you have jeans and sandals on - forget it, men don't lift a finger. But replace the birkenstocks with heels and shazam!
If I have on a skirt and am holding things then they always will, but if I am in the hardware store, it's never happened. But Eric always does so that's all that counts, right?

Good God, I'm lucky if the men at the train don't run me over and let the door close on me in pursuit of a freakin' seat on the train! It's terrible...I once got up and offered my seat to a pregnant lady...meanwhile the 5 men sitting around us continued to ignore and read their papers. Bunch of sissy monkeys I say!

But I have had a lot of doors and elevators held for me so maybe it's just the corporate train men!!!

Oh, I totally hear you on ALL of this and I work on Bay Street (Canada's equivalent to Wall Street) so I can attest to this!!!

That is true here, too. Most of the men here are Marines, and they are usually very polite as long as they are not behind the wheel. My sweetie has always held doors for me.
I went home to Augusta, GA a few weeks ago, and the people there seemed so rude compared to the ones here. A lot of the people there are really snooty and full of themselves.

lol I get "yelled" at if I don't let my boyfriend open doors for me. He always insists on doing "his job" by taking out my trash (we live in the same complex but not the same apartment), doing the dishes, and opening doors for me. Its definately appreciated!

Yup around here that seems to hold true and I always say thank you. My fiance doesnt let me ever open a door, unless I must..cause he has his hands full or something. he walks to the passanger side and opens the door for me too..and than gets in..and hes not just trying to impress me anymore
hes already got me.
