Yes, she could have been ignoring $3 because of her contractions.

Worry about #4 first, if #3 looks fine.

Give it a few minutes for her to expel the placenta.

Placenta is out!!! But mama has yet to eat it!

(ok, this has turned into my journal
)

Now she's eating the placenta from the last one... ...

She's still breathing heavy... could there be a 5th?!?! Oh My!

All kittens are now nursing and crawling around!

If you can stop her from eating that #4th placenta...please do, they are a bit rich for the Mumma cats sometimes and can result in an upset stomach.

uh oh
She already ate it... if there's a 5th (she's still breathing heavy) then we will definately stop her from that!! I wouldn't want to endanger her or the babies!

... about not eating the placenta ... I would let your girl be your guide. She won't eat it if she doesn't want it but it is good for her to eat as many as she wants. Yes, some cats do experience a little bit of runny stool afterwards and yes it stinks to high heaven if they do, but the placenta is rich in nutrients that allow her colostrum (hope that is spelled right!) to come down that much quicker and her milk production to be better.

She's still breathing rather heavy, REAL heavy actually, but no contractions since number 4 was born... so I think she *may* be done...

I'm wanting to go to sleep, but I'm nervous... thoughts?

I might give it a little while longer just to be sure. If she is still breathing heavy, it may be that there are more kittens to come. Is there anyway you can play hooky from work or whatever to stay home with them today?

She is settling down; breathing is quieter, and less quick! (Sorry english not working so well right now!)

I don't work tomorrow; but I've been up going on 24 hours! I do have to run my DH to work!

Mama is asleep, babies are nursing and there are no more signs of heavy breathing or contractions...

Havent' felt her belly...going to do so now... I guess I don't know what I'm feeling for

I'm so glad to hear that you are here to stay.

I hope you have a good sleep, and I'll be checking back in on this thread when I return on Monday afternoon. Wishing your babies the best!

And can't wait to see photos!

#3 is one of the cutest cats I've ever seen!!

I really hope all 4 make it! They seem fine; eating and sleeping and cuddling now!! 1 has stolen the best nipple *lol* and won't give it up! Although 2 is fighting for it!!

4 is cudling iwth mama and quietly nursing!

And the breathing of mama has slowed way down, to a normal level almost! So I think she's fine... now it's back to bed
