i just noticed my kitten has 4 long whiskers on one side and only one on the other, does it make any difference? i don't know what happened to them, and will they grow again?

Whiskers are like long, sensitive hairs (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) But they do grow back, and they do shed off sometimes. I'm sure your kitten will have more whiskers soon enough, nothing to worry about

Yes, Nano had lost the whiskers near her mouth and above her eyebrows but they came back and ultimately evened out so both sides of her face are the same. It took about six weeks for things to look somewhat normal and at around three months she was like any other cat.

I trimmed our family cat too, Ginger, when I was a child...

He was such a obliging kitty, he stood really still and I trimmed them off really close(I didnt hurt him) - It took my parents a while to figure out what happened and why he looked so odd!!

Dax sheds whiskers occasionally - I often find them in the bed. Dont worry, as long as the skin around the area appears normal its most likely just normal shedding and they will grow back soon.

our girl Sheeba chews off her brother Piku's whiskers on a fairly regular basis. we try to stop her when we see it happening 'cause we feel bad that he looks so funny with them short or lopsided. i don't think he really appreciates her grooming him like this, but in any case he tolerates it well. it did take me a while after we first got them to figure out why he didn't seem to have any whiskers though.
