My Male cat has always loved water, he prefers dry to his wet food, and will drink lots of water because of it. He will love to touch the water before he drinks it and will drink out of a faucet if one is on. Last night I caught him picking up( no I am not lying)
the dish of water with his nails and tiping it over to drink off the floor. Now I understand why I always have water on the floor. I always give my cats bottled water, there has been no change in water, nor any change in a different dish. Any other people have this problem????

My Finnegan does something very similar! I can't keep the water dishes full because he's constantly swirling his paw around in them and splashing the water all over the place. It's always a mess, but I can't really get him to stop.

He is about 3 1/2 yrs old--- he was adopted in Febuary 3 yrs ago when he was a few weeks old. He is the calmer of my 2 cats, but this is what he loves to do play with water. I am thinking of getting a fountain for him, but am afraid he will try and tip it over also.
. My Zeus is an original.

My cats can't knock over the water dish, they share with the dog, and thats a big, heavy dish

I do know cats that will only drink water from the faucet, or from the toilet. And a cat that will drink only from dipping his paw n the water, then lick it off.. it must take him awhile to get a decent drink

Our cat will seek out coffee and knock the cup off any table. It hates coffee and will wait until a cup is unattended and then will knock it to the floor.

This is easily solved with a new water dish...get a heavy, wide dish that can't be tipped over. Ceramic or stainless steel with non-skid rubber on the bottom. If you want to go all-out, get a pet fountain.
