Yesterday on the way home, I passed a big flock of canadian geese eating in the grass along side the road (not an unusual sight) - as I pass by, the whole flock (more than 20) raise their heads and look at my car as I pass.....

First thought:
What did I do?

Second thought:
Something must be wrong with the car - should I get out and look?

Third thought:
Susie and her attacking geese.

After this last thought, I crack up laughing and drive on....

Here is the link for those that missed Susie's original thread:

That's okay, Susie!
I've been chased by Canada Geese before too... and by MORE than one at a time!
They can get pretty nasty this time of year.

Some of those guys can get pretty mean, and if you turn your back on them they will lay those vise-grip jaws into your butt !

I live on the lake and they come up into our yard, and I'll tell you for free, the term "loose as a goose" is based more in fact than fantasy !

They are very social critters, and when I get the water hose after them they will send the women and kids back to the water and the bulls will stay and try to fight me, but a squirt in the beak is more than they are willing to put up with.

Nature is best viewed at a distance.

Leonard.

OH the memories you bring back!
Sad but Sweet! I used to live with my Min, Corks and Schatzi in Sonoma county with the backyard next to a golf couse and there was a flock of Canadian geese there - as well as a pair of white geese. I would feed them and Schatzi would help by chasing the canadian ones away so I could feed the white ones. The white (I think it was the male)ones talked so much the others would get the bread and the one seemed to be a bit senile.

After awile they said "forget the golf course, lets just go right to Heidi's back yard instead!" LOL! They sure made one HECK of a mess though and the golfers had a couple of border collies round them up and chase them away.

I miss them though!
and your stories bring back such wonderful memories!
