well my hunter's tummy was convulsing rapidly and he threw up with liquid and few undigested dry food, my wife said it was a hairball, he's acting normal, drank and ate afterwards, is this hairball and how often do they do it? he cleans himself all day.

It sounds awful, but the hairballs I have seen don't look like food.
Its weird, but they look like poop surrounded by liquid.
They are firm masses, not a pile.
(but I am no expert and have minimal experience!)
Hopefully someone else will have answers.

But it sounds like yours was food.

It's possible that it's a hairball. Sometimes it takes a couple "tries" to get it up. Hairballs can be expelled by themselves or with food. I think it depends on the cat.

Is your cat a scarfer? A cat who eats too fast may vomit shortly after eating. Two solutions: 1 - put something in the food to slow him down ... a golf ball, ping-pong ball, or clean smooth rock; 2 - elevate the food bowl several inches off the ground.

he eats fast and doesn't chew, i will try the raised up bowl, this is the first time he did that, hopefully it was just a hairball.

It sounds kind of like what Pixie does. She doesn't do it too often, but I can see a difference when it's from her food and when it's a hairball. When it's bc she ate too fast it's more solid semi-chewed food pieces, the hairballs (i think she's had 2) was more liquid with obvious clumps of hair. Sorry that's such a gross description.
