Thank you soooo much, I can't tell you how much that means! I've only told 3 people....my boss, a co-worker(and close friend), and a friend....the responses were,
1."omg, you have potty mouth....are you sure you can stop"
2."hahahahaha, oh...are you serious?"
3."sh*t, i'm going to lose you for a year....."
I am a little shocked by their reactions....even though it's not for sure yet...I thought it would be best to tell those people. I am happy that none of the responses has anything to do with the baby having 2 daddies =)
So....after friday is the dreaded 2 week wait....baaahhh....that's going to suck. After the 2 weeks is when we can test to see if we were successful, which we *should* have been because of our timing, but I am not holding my breath....normally it takes until the second try.

Under the cats, mostly.
OH wow! Congratulations!! I've got my fingers crossed for all four of you - you, partner, surro angel as you've called her - and hopefully that little spark of life that'll be your baby!! Best of luck! As far as we're all concerned - who cares if a child has one or two parents, two mothers or like in your case, two fathers? What really matters is that they're loved and that they KNOW they're loved - and I know you and your partner both have a helluva lotta love to give
I reckon you're gunna be great parents!

I particularly like the second one... sounds more like something I have said when someone is going to get married or have a child.

Congratulations!!!!! Keep us updated. Trust me, that child is going to be a very well raised person.
One thing he will never be is intolerant.

PS: Paternity leave in Ontario is one full year? Gads, now thats good. Here its three months only for the mother, and they saw it as a joke when someone talked of including the father in it.

I can also tell you this...it's unbelievable how much your heart aches over a little scrape on your child's knee.

Good luck again!
HAHA sorry...I HAD to comment on this, though I wish you luck
My son was nearly 5 when my daughter was born (also an October baby). My son slept 12 hours solid or more from the day he was born...he was an ANGEL! My daughter, who's nearly 3, still gets up at least twice a night!

Matt, good luck!!

Matt, that is wonderful news. It's especially exciting, when you had to grow up thinking that it would be impossible. This will be a very loved baby.

And as for parental leave, it's great, but not quite a full year. Parents are entitled to 35 weeks unpaid leave, with their job guaranteed on their return. Then can collect unemployment insurance for that time. The total time off by both parents totals 35 weeks, so they can split that in two, and both be off together with the baby for 17 1/2 weeks, or they can take turns, so at least one of them is at home for the 35 weeks, or one parent can take the entire leave.

In addition, there is a 17 week "Pregnancy" leave for birth mothers. So if a woman has a baby, and then takes pregnancy and parental leave, she could be off for a year. I know lots of cases where the birth mother takes the 17 weeks, then her partner takes over child care and she goes back to work.

I was good friends with a girl who had two mums - I loved going to her house and playing there because their house was so full of fun stuff, it was awesome and her birthday parties were the best! Last I heard, she was about 12 when she moved away and I have no idea where she is now. Mmm...would be nice to see her again.

Are you sure? My boss told me 52 weeks paid time off....I'm Canadian, if that makes a difference, maybe where you're from it is different than here. If you are Canadian, maybe I've been misinformed.

What wonderful news!!!!! I am so exited for you and your husband!!!

I'm curious though. How does the whole surrogate mother process work? How did you go about finding her? I'm sure there are tons of legality issues.... Is it a hard process? A long one?
