Pet Fur Zaps?

Sometimes i will touch either pandy, bonnie or anassa and get a small sharp zap like static electricity, they don't seem to notice and it doesn't bother me but i was curious if anyone has had this happen or know why it happens?

Happens here a lot.
Static builds up easily when the air is too dry.
I combat it by keeping an aquarium and a tabletop fountain on the main floor, and a cold air humidifier upstairs.

Our computer room is awful for zapping. Which isn't good around the computers as you can imagine . I'll get zapped by my DH when he kisses me good-bye in the morning. Talk about an electric kiss Most of it is due, I think, to the fact that this is the only room in the house that has wall-to-wall carpeting as the hardwood was just in too bad a shape to even think about re-finishing. Kellie da Peke gets zapped too in winter, and I'm sure that once the kittens graduate to this area of the house, they'll probably get zapped.

Thankyou so much, i never even thought of that, like i said, it doesn't really bother me but i'd prefer it didn't happen, it gives me a fright every time
