My dad stored an old juke box in the basement... the tall kind with the rounded top and bubbles going up the sides. It looked like a monster when walking down the stairs at night!

When I was really little you couldnt put anything clown on my walls, because they would move at night. Um... I used to be afraid of the toilet, and if I flushed it and I was alone in the house I would run as fast as possible to the most well lighted room and look warily down the hallway. I wouldnt run if someone else was in the house, but it would get my heartrate up. Hm.. I was afraid of closets... I was afraid of windows w/o blinds (looking into the darkness) I was afriad of the dark.. probably alot more things.. Oh.. the reason i was afraid of the toilet is because I thought it would come after me and eat me... I used to have dreams wehre I served the toilet, and I was bringing it something.. if I displeased it it would make this sound that was so horrible, I woke up every time.

Today I am: Afraid of the dark, afraid of dark windows, wary about open closets, wary about open doors at night, wary about things with eyes (pictures, posters, stuffed animals, ect) Still afraid of clowns.. BUT I dont run from the toilet. So yeah O_O I love the dark but not when I am alone in it!!!! My fear of the dark stems from my deep DEEP fear of ghosts. I am so incredibly afraid of ghosts you would not believe it. My mom told me that on friday the thirteenth this year she and her friend were sitting in her friend's store when they experienced something, I couldnt sleep that night. Ghosts scare the crap otu of me.. but I love ghost movies??? I used to get afraid, but now I know they are only movies (except the ones that say "based on a real story" those freak me out ) O_O Yeah. I am needing therapy most likely xD I do sit in the living room at night now with the blinds open, I am trying to condition myself to not be afraid of the windows O_O Sometimes I cant help myself though and I close the blinds

When I was little I used to dream about this weird green cat balloon. It floated around in my dream and went from a smiling, happy face to a frowning one. That image has haunted me for years...............

I'm not too fond of scorpions, unless they are behind glass. I'm not scared of them, I'm just cautious. When I was little, I had a nightmare and got up to go to my mom's room, and on my way there, I stepped on a scorpion, and it stung me. So, I'm kinda cautios bout' them.

I had a four-poster bed made from mahogany. In the wood grain there was an image of a woman weeping into a handkerchief. I remember refusing to go to bed because she scared me so bad, and I would crawl under the bed to sleep sometimes where she couldn't get me. It was just the grain of the wood making a unique design, but to this day I can still see the image in my head-

It's strange the way such small, insignificant things can play tricks on our heads, isn't it?

My Aunt's chihuahua, Mr Chips, the only animal in my life I've ever feared.
I was mauled by a German Shepard when I was two, but have never feared dogs, except that one.

Cjandbilly: I didn't get to choose my custom title. You can credit Deb 25 for that!

LOL!!!
I think I've seen that cat too Deb, but you should see him when he turns red. Apparently, some people are really scared when he gets like that. I think it's the ominously dark blue sky in the background.

Cute answers everyone!
I'll add another. I used to be afraid that I would get sucked into escalators and shredded if I didn't step over them carefully enough. -another thing I never told anyone. Eventually, I figred out that it wasn't possible.

I think I just had a psychotic imagination as a child.

When I had my bedroom upstairs with the closet, when the lights turned off there were demon bunnies - 6 foot tall demon bunnies! - in the closet. The door had to be shut or I couldn't sleep.

When I had my bedroom downstairs (no closet), I was sure there were snarling, drooling wolves under my bed. When I turned off the light (on the far side of the room of course!) I could make the bed in three leaps.

Oh yeah, and I was quite sure that the mirror in the bathroom was a 2-way mirror. I don't know how the people watching got into the MIDDLE of the house, but they were there.

The house I grew up in.
We lived in a huge house in P.A. with a big basement & this creepy furnace. When it was on, you could see the flames inside of it. My one sister Cyn called it "The Furnace Ghoul". One of the many terrors that lurked in the basement!! I hated that big creepy house! Too many shadows & dark corners-I was afraid of it till the day I moved out at age 17.
The closet door in my Mom's bedroom had this creepy screaming face in the woodgrain, & it was also scary having to walk up into the attic because I was always thinking someone would reach down & grab me from the floor above as I ascended the stairs. The place was so big, it was divided into 3 apartments (ours was biggest, the size of a normal house) my Grampap lived across the basement landing, & it would scare me to even cross that small landing between two doors with that creepy basement below!
Years later I heard the house had burned & is now gone & I am almost glad.

Unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the
I was afraid of looking in the basement before the light was on.

The way our basement was set up, you had to walk all the way down the stairs before you could turn on the light. One time, when I was a kid, I was a little bit afraid to go downstairs by myself so I told myself "I wish someone else was with me" and looked into the dark basement and I swear I saw someone standing there
. I ran back upstairs.
There wasn't really anyone downstairs... it was just my imagination. But to this day, I close my eyes until I turn on the light switch.

Actually, the thing that frightened me most as a kid was my own imagination. I remember once feeling someone touch my back while I was in bed... but no one was around.
Also, the first time my parents left me home alone, I swear I heard people downstairs, moving dishes around. (I'm not too sure why anyone would steal our dishes... but I was terrified!)
