My cat was diagnosed with kidney failure recently and as a result I've been doing a lot of research on the internet. I've read about a supplement called "Renafood" by Standard Practice on several sites which is supposed to be excellent for CRF cats. I'm curious does anyone here have any experience using this supplement and if so, what were the results? Thanks.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I'm sorry to hear about your kitties diagnosis, I have two with this, and while not familiar with this supplement, nor can I find any mention of it on the support list I am on, just in general, here is my favorite overall site on CRF on the net - Feline Crf Dot Org .
If you'd like the address of the support list I belong too, pm me.

Hello Catlover34, what i can tell you about Renafood is my own experience with it. I have chronic renal failure & my naturopath gave me renafood to take for one month (July 2005). I went back a month later for a followup visit & he confirmed my kidneys were back to normal. i also did blood work with my regular doctor & he confirmed my kidney function has improved. Renafood saved me from going onto dialysis!! I now continue to take renafood to strengthen my kidneys.
I didn't know renafood could be given to cats... but you know, my naturopath told me that cats often suffer from the same ailments as humans, so i don't see why renafood wouldnt work. in fact, if my cats (both 7yrs old now) ever had kidney problems i wouldn't hesitate to give them renafood! Renafood contains "protomorphens" which help the kidney to rebuild itself & to maintain healthy function.
Regards,
Paula Smith

My cat was diagnosed with renal failure about a year and a half ago. In desperation, I researched everything and decided to try Renafood.
It worked so well my cat's kidney function has returned to high normal levels. My cat celebrated her 20th birthday Sunday.

So, are you still doing good? That's been 5 years now. No more kidney issues for you?Sharky, how do you administer it to your cats? The pills look rather large with I googled this product. But I read somewhere that someones cat loved the taste, so wondered if you crush them up, or if it comes in different formulas (liquid, powder), or what.

Yes- Use Renafood!
My 13 yr. old Tabby was diagnosed with Kidney failure and given a few months to live. I started sprinkling renafood on his food and Giving him Tripsy a supplement from Pet well being twice a day- once now! This was back in 2009 he started eating right away and was back to his normal self after a few weeks. He is still thin but eats good - cleans himself daily - and uses his litter good.Sometimes I even get him to purrrrrrr....
Renafood- switching him to 80% wet food- and giving him TRIPSY has kept him going, without this and all the info on the web- he would have been a gonner for sure ! Hope this helps!
