my cat growls at me!!!!!

Help!! My cat growls at me!! I got a new kitten 1 week ago, and ever since then, my other cat growls at me and does not want to be around me!!! I don't know if he's jealous or what, but it's really breaking my heart!!! He won't even sleep on my bed anymore!!!!

Hi there!! Don't worry!!! I have just introduced two new cats to my bunch of four....one of the originals four Bod, (my special baby) is doing the same thing, well, not growling at me, but has suddenly become less affectionate, this has happened before but with time and LOTS of reassurance that the first cat is still your "special baby" things get sorted out. I think they do feel a little "put out" at first when you bring a new cat home...also remember its pretty stressfull for them, there is a new smell in the house and someone else to take "mums" attention!! Just make sure you give him lots of extra loving and few extra treats won't go astray either!! Try not to change his routine as much as poss, and mostly, give him time, keep fussing him like you used to and also some "private time" away from the new kitty. Smooth him and talk softly to him when he starts to growl....he will stop eventually!! All the best and let us know how it goes!!

Cats can be so fickle Don't panic just yet. It's only been a week. Some cats will take a month or more to get over the change. Cats are very sensitive to change and he is letting you know that he is not pleased at the moment. Just keep reassuring him that you still love him even if it's just talking to him using his name or a quick pet.

itll b okay and he/she will come around

April Joy growled at me after the introduction phase and he had full run of the house. She also mercilessly beat up on him and growled and hissed. Don't worry. This phase will pass. Last night the two of them were all snuggled up together. This morning April Joy was on my lap kneeding and purring. She had stopped doing that because she wasn't happy about her new brother but everything is ok now.
