I wanted to post this as a tribute to all the people alive and deceased who fought in Pearl Habor on this day, December 7, 1941, and say THANK YOU for defending our country 60 years ago today. You are not forgotten.

My dad flew B-17's in WW 2 - I remember him talking about the flack being so thick, you could walk on it outside the plane.

He was a great great man.......

for reminding us to take a moment and say a prayer for those who lost their lives, and those who fought to defend our freedom.

Thanks for starting this Thread Donna, I didn't even realize the date today, read a newspaper nor watched TV.

It's an honor in itself to be saying a prayer and meditate on their sacrifice for our freedom.

WOW Deb, I was wondering what "flak" meant and my bud Mike just explained it! That's really wild!

Your dad must be some brave guy, to have placed himself in that type of danger for our freedom!

Love & Hugs,
Catarina

PS....Does he still have his "flak jacket"?

Thanks Cat and Deb - yes he really was a brave man - but a quiet one!

He was a co-pilot/bombadier - and flew with the actor Jimmy Stewart.

O.M. as we called him (old master
) - loved to pretend he hated Jimmy Stewart, for being such a bad pilot - they crashed even over here, as dad said he would wait until he got to the VERY end of the runway to take off!
