I have been feeding the kittens pouch food, several times a day...usually about every 3-4 hours (its nice working from home) and I leave free feed Kitten hard food down for them as well. They are 8 weeks old as of tommrow. And only one has really latched on to the dry food, I . Should I be worried? I have tried cutting down on the pouch food, but than they just cry and cry and cry..and try to nurse. So I give them the a mix, they do eat it. Takes a bit longer with the kitten kibbles. I think they are still having trouble chewing it, so I am not to worried. But I am just checking to make sure we are on track, and ok here.

Also just wanted to share I think my way of storeing the left overs between feedings for the pouches works pretty good. I feed them on a tupperware lid..than just pop the bowl over the top and stick it in the fridge.

Festus' litter started on dry at about 3-4 weeks! But that was because the piggy baby boy (Doc) was grabbing it out of Momma's bowl and trying to chew it. Initially, one kibble was a big treat, and took a while to chew up. But as they got older, they just kept at it.

I can see how yours would prefer soft food. It is smelly, easy to chew, and it is what they are used to. So as long as they are getting that every 3-4 hours, why work at the dry food?

I don't see a problem with them continuing on the pouches. When they get adopted out, just let the new owners know they prefer pouches to dry.

Well actually two of them will be staying here at home. and I free feed dry mostly, and will contiune to do so. Everyone gets a treat of wed food in the morning. And they know it
so I would like to keep that going. its a fight to keep the big kids away from the kitten wet food, LOL but We manage

and also the gal who is adopting our other two, one of my best friends in the world. Prefers to free feed dry, and as well gives wet as a treat in the morning. So although pouches work..I want them to take interest in the dry..

Our kittens are about 7 1/2 weeks old. For the last couple of weeks I've been mixing their canned food with hard kibble, and gradually increasing the amount of kibble. Sort of about the consistency of chocolate chip cookie dough. Then hopefully at the time they're ready to go to their families, they can continue from there.

thanks good to know. So far tonight they are sniffing at the mix like "excuse me" but they will eat it..my little trooper Callie already has
but she eats the dry stuff anyways

Gosh, I guess mine started dry so early before, way sooner than expected, that they just stuck with that.

Maybe I'll try to stick to dry with my current litter, too. Sounds like when they are little, they don't like to change much!
