I had to put drops in his ears for mites, I think he feels betrayed. how long will this last? He is hiding from me and only relutantly coming to me. When I pet his head he winces and folds that ear. I hate this, I know all "parents" have to go through this but I hope it passes. do they know it's cause we care on some level?

It shouldnt last too long. I know how you feel, Mine get mad at me whenever i have to do something for them. Thats for their own good. but they dont like it. They usually do not stay mad to long. and I do think on some level..they may understand just use lots of soothing tones and reassure him you didnt do it to hurt him but to help.

Of course they all know we care, but sometimes it doesn't assure them much.
My cat acted that way when I had to treat him for ear mites as well. As long as you do it regularly, and with as little struggle possible, then your cat should be fine (if not altogether happy with you.) They all get over it sooner or later; I'm sure he'll be alright in not too long. Hope that helped!!!

awww! Your cat should get over it soon. Giving them treats helps them forget what you had to do to them :p I have to give my cat oral medicine because he has giardia. Yesterday was the first time and it was ok because he didnt know what was coming. Today though.. as soona s I put the (capped) syringe by his head he shook his head and freakd out. Blah. It took two times to get it all in xD ending up with himbeing wrapped in a towel. Its gotta be really nasty tasting stuff though
and it sticks inside his mouth. Poor little guy! Yesterday I gave im a pouch of wet food afterwards and he liked that. He wouldnt let me touch his head but then I gave him some cat treats and he was really greatful to get that icky food taste out of his mouth. :p right now hes under the desk by my feet sleepin'. :p

Thanks everyone. It's still not the same, but he came to me and did jump on my lap later last night. He still seems leary but i am sure it's ok.
