I thought about that, too
Seriously though, I had planned on a new ring, but now that I'm "here" I really don't think I want a new one (my practical side) I might need just a new ring though... maybe a gemstone ring of some sort ---- Oh wait!! I'm talking about what I want again!

Chris this is your Silver wedding anniversary and it should be special, and not quick and painless.
How about finding someone that can take your photographs of your life together and put it on a CD for him? Or how about something for every year you have been married- something small that symbolizes your life together over the years? 25 items that add up to your life.

Buy him something moderately expensive and goofy. O_O If I was happily married and old and had alot of money I would buy my (unknown as of now) hubby a duck hat with diamond eyes O_O WHY? BECAUSE I AM THAT WAY!!! O_O A fun thing to do for me would be to give each other a hundred bucks, and spend the day with each other in a mall, shopping? But I like to shop O_O and I would rather have money than specific presents. This way you can be like "WOW THAT IS SO COOL I HAVE TO HAVE IT O_O" Though I am not old nor am I married so I dont know how good my suggestions are :p

In going with what hissy said kind of, why dont you think about hiring an artist to paint your portrait? I mean whatever you wanted to get each other would probably cost more o_O though I dont know how much it is to have your portrait painted, or where you mgiht find a painter o_O but it is a good suggestion I think

If he wants the radio, maybe you should just get it for him. My dh is into golf, and sometimes if he wants a specific golf club, we just go together and purchase it for him. Or a gift certificate so he can get what he wants.

Captiva is avoiding the lace nighty question, because she already said she is working that day. Get it? He will be meeting HER at the door in his silk boxers!

Our silver anniversary is coming up at the end of June, and we've decided to be practical and, 1) replace the cat net on our back balcony, and 2) get rid of our 15-year-old car, and 3) buy something with airbags , a hatchback, and AC..

Oh honey ... as an old married person, the best advice I can give you is what works for me ... I just hand my husband cash and tell him to go out and buy what he wants. And he does. And he loves it. I am saved from the anguish of shopping for him, buying something that fits/works/interests him and he is happy cuz he gets exactly what he wants.

We like this idea so much that it has now spilled over into Christmas and Birthday gift giving as well. Faithfully, each year now for the past 5 or 6, for my birthday "he" buys me my favorite perfume and bath powder, which comes nicely wrapped via UPS and when I open it, I exclaim something like, "Oh Honey! How did you KNOW I was needing my fragrance???" And he just glows with the knowledge that "he" was so ... thoughtful!! ROFL

No Fran - we don't have human kids and yes, I was promised to him and married at age 5

Tricia - As usual, I'm scanning very quickly though the posts. When I read yours, I thought
Why would Tricia get rid of her 15 yr old cat?
Then I realized it said car

I know what I want - I have decided I want a massage!
I might talk to him about his silly ole radio. I wish he collected smaller things.

If you want him to have a new wedding ring, you could go to bidz.com and check out the cool titanium ones. A friend got the same one my daughter paid $300 for on there for $40. I love hissy's idea of a DVD of your years together. Then you could crack a bottle of champagne and watch it together.
