I took Alice to the vet today and it turns out she wasn't pregnant at all. I was shocked! She had all of the pregnancy symptoms, even had milk, but no babies. I am kind of sad because I was really looking forward to little kittens running around. I was also planning on keeping one so I'm sad. I am planning on getting her spaid asap. Do you think it would be a good idea to adopt a kitten for me and for Alice? Do you think it will help her feel better?

My Pepper had a false pregnancy, and it was just by coincidence that we adopted Scooter about the same time. She adopted him immediately, and even though he is 10 months old, she still "mothers" him. She will drag him by the scruff if he does not come when I call him. I'll tell her to get her baby, and she will. I think it would be a wonderful thing to rescue a kitten and give your maternal cat a baby to care for. Pepper was spayed shortly after we got Scooter, and it did not change things at all as far as her being a good adoptive mommy.

What a sweet idea! To give you both a baby, and to save a homeless kitten at the same time! And remember, you could always be a foster Meowmie if you want a whole litter!

You also could foster a pregnant cat or a cat who just had it's kittens....that is what I am doing for my rescue. I have a mom and her 2 kittens. The great thing about this is that if I had not offered to foster, this mom would have been euthanized...so I have saved 3 lives. Also....the rescue will pay for the spaying/neutering and placement of all 3.

And if shes still producing milk, you can call up rescues and such and see if they have young kittens that need a surrogate mom.
