Now this is wierd but here I go....

LILO had 7 kittens (one died) so now she has 6. They will be 2 weeks old on Sunday.

Now... Garfield whom we have been owned by for about 2 months now has been caught snuggling with the kittens when momma isnt in the room. She does not at all even get mad. I mean she is used to Garfield and I would say she likes him but still?????? Oh and she is a GREAT momma. I couldn't say that enough about her.
I have watched him go in there from peeking around the corner just to see what he does and all he does is get in there and snuggle with them and go to sleep.
My question is could it be because he was taken from his momma too early? Because we bought him from a pet store and found out afterwards that he was very sick with Coccidia. But the vet told us he was not even 8 weeks old yet and that he was probably switched to hard cat food straight from his mommas milk. He is like a big baby. I mean he is only about 3 months old so he is still a baby I guess. But he "crys" alot too sometimes. And another thing... when he "crys" LILO comes running to him to see if he is ok.

Do yall think the reason she doesnt mind him in there with her babies is b/c she thinks he is "a baby" too?

I still dont like him in there though. I just dont want him to try to play with the kittens and hurt them. What are yalls thoughts?

I think it might be that he was taken from his own mom too early, and is trying to fit in with the liter of kittens. Your female seems to be okay with this, as she lets him near her babies. Personally I would keep an eye on him and the second he starts acting agressive, or playing too rough, or trying to become the alpha of the group, I would seperate them. Until then I would just let it be, call it cute, and keep close watch.

I cant give you a from experience answer but I am hoping someone will see this with a new post and give you something more definate.

Guess what I found him in there doing today!!!!!!

Cleaning the kittens.

Yeap... he was lickin' em' clean!!!

I still took him out though.
Does anyone think he will be okay with them in there? Or am I doing the right thing by taking him out?
