Lillian Jackson Braun. (this is Meowmy Kim.) I found it really hard to figure out which one was first in the series (or 2nd or 3rd etc.) until I went to Amazon.com.

The meowmies love those "Cat Who..." books! They found some at a yard sale and have been scouring the used book store but nobody seems to turn those in for resale! Meowmy even hinted to her Secret Santa that she'd like a couple.

I took Smudge to the vet this morning. His temperature has increased to 105.8.
However, the vet thinks he knows what it wrong now, and it's not so bad. We're pretty sure that he has an abcess behind his eye. That is why it's so swollen, and uncomfortable, and even why he can't swallow real good - because the jaw opening puts pressure on the eye socket. The reason the antibiotics probably aren't working, and why the temperature is still up is because the abcess has build a protective capsule that can't be penetrated by the antibiotics. So we've got some antesthetic eye drops to make him more comfortable, we are going to give a very small dose of Aspirin for the inflammation, and hot compresses to try and make the abcess rupture. If it hasn't ruptured, the vet will anesthetize him on Monday and go around the eyeball and poke the capsule to get it to break. The good news - this is probably what it is, and the vet really thinks we're not going to lose him. Keep praying buddies!
