Huggy the cat will get to eat the £152 cheese
The owner of a cat with a liking for cheese has spent £152 on a 300g chunk.
The cheese, an extra-strong Cheddar called TNT, is made by dairy Wyke Farms, of Bruton, Somerset.
"It works out as more than £500 a kilogram, so that's an expensive piece of cheese," said Richard Clothier marketing director of Wyke Farms.
"Huggy is apparently the name of his cat, who loves cheese." The mystery buyer bought the Cheddar from internet auction site eBay.
"He has obviously got lots of money and just wanted his cat to have the best cheese possible," said Mr Clothier.
The cheese is based on a 100-year-old recipe created by Mr Clothier's grandmother Ivy.
Vets recommend that cheese is only given in small quantities to cats as a treat.
