It took a while but we weaned our kittens from canned food to dry kitten food. Performatrin Kitten food from Pet Valu to be exact. The less they ate of the canned and the more they ate of the dry the more they started sneezing.

All the while they were still playing and active and acting pretty much normal except for the sneezing.

I gradually switched them to Pro Plan Kitten formula (dry) and the sneezing has started to slowly subside and is nearly gone. I picked Pro Plan because of the chicken being the first ingredient with corn being the third I believe. I had also read threads here saying it was a good cat food.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this kind of reaction with their cats on certain foods. I dont really know what is making them sneeze with that particular one.

I am not a vet or vet tech but just like humans cats can be sensitive to just about anything... I dont know the ingrediants in the performation so I cant see if it has a chem or other item that may be likely that the pro plan doesnt have.. It could boil downm to the manufacturing also

Hi Sharky

Ground yellow corn is the second ingredient in the Performatrin with chicken meal being the first. The Pro Plan has chicken first then chicken byproducts then corn gluten meal.I get the feeling it might be the corn causing an allergy.

I read so many labels in the store and Pro Plan seems to be the only one I can find with chicken as its first ingredient. Weird as cats are mainly carnivores.

Also they seem to really like the Pro Plan better than the other.Of course I was told by the PetValu staff that their product is superior to the Purina.

Anyway thanks for your input.
