My mom and sister picked up two little kittens from a backyard (my dad owns the property) -- she told me they were 5-6 weeks, but after I saw the pictures I'm sure that they're only about 2 weeks old. I have them feeding the babies mothers replacement milk until I get there tomorrow (4 hours away) and I can take over.

Our first cat (we have 3 right now) was abandoned by her mom at 1.5-2 weeks old, so I've handled this situation before and I know exactly what I'm doing. So I don't need any advice about that.

My mom went back to the property and saw the mother cat looking for the kittens. If I took them back there tomorrow would the mother cat take them back? Or is it like birds and other wild animals where they'll desert them if they've been touched? I'd really like them to be with their mother if possible...but if not I'll take them and care for them.

Depends on how feral the momcat is and how much the kittens have been touched. Right now you have them, so the thing to do would be to keep them and try to use them to get the mom into a trap and keep mom and kittens together until you can get her spayed. That would be the best thing to do.
