Hi,
Last night after my dog came in from running in the rain, and shook off, I found a freaky looking worm on my kitchen floorGROSSSSS!!!!!! It was about a little over 1 inch and was very skinny, and black, and when I picked it up in a napkin and squished it, it was sort of crunchy!!!!!!!!!! I'm freaked out because my dog gets groomed every 6 weeks and goes to the vet yearly for his shots, and is with me all the time, and never have I seen this. I am hopeing it is just something that hitched a ride on him while outside. I have 2 cats too, so I am freaking because I don't know what type of worm it was or where it came from, so I don't know if I need to be concerned for my pets or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My dog goes to the vet soon for his shots, and has a bath in 2 more weeks. We have him bathed with special shampoo to cut down on the dander as my daughter, husband and myself have asthma and allergies to dander, but this helps us, and also keeps Buddy clean.

I can not think of any parasite for cats and dogs that is black (and I have checked my parasitology books), so it is probably something that just was clinging to her fur.

Hi,
Thank-you for responding. I did call my vet too and got the same info, so now I can put my mind to rest for now.
I lost 2 sweet kittens to FIP 4 months ago, a disease which I had never heard of prior to them being dx with it, so I am constantly keeping a very close eye on all my sweet companions as I hope to never have to endure the awful heart break and watch another pet suffer from such a dreadful disease!! I adopted the 2 cats I have now about two months ago, they did not come from happy prior lives, but they are happy and showing so much affection since they have been with my family and I. We love our companions sooooo much and only want good things for them!!!
