Well all, tomorrow I go on vacation with my best friend, Elizabeth (whom I haven't seen in almost a year!). She gets in town tonight and tomorrow morning we leave for Tampa/Clearwater, FL. We're going to spend a day at the beach, eat lots of good food, and, of course, we're going to the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa Big Cat Rescue. I'll be sure to take tons of pictures of the beautiful cats for y'all! Has anyone here ever been to the Big Cat Rescue?
I'll miss my TCS family. I hope everyone has a fun and SAFE Memorial Day weekend

Here's the link: Big Cat Rescue The Big Cat Rescue is a place that rescues exotic cats (tigers, ocelots, sand cats, cervals, etc.) from breeders, individuals that can't take care of them, other zoos, etc. They rehabilitate the animals and keep them in a safe environment. They do not breed nor sell their cats. My best friend donates to them, so she's really excited about seeing the sand cat that she adopted

I'm just looking forward to being surround by these beautiful felines!

Keep your fingers crossed that it does rain!!!

Oh, what fun!!! I have always wanted to go to someplace like that...it's on my list of places to visit in my life. And I really think those places are a God send since there's so many crazies out there who get big cats for pets then realize it's more than they can handle. They are wild animals that belong in the wild, not in someone's home.

WELL GOOD FOR YOU...THAT IS JUST AWESOME!!!
Please take pics and have a wonderful time. I will do a rain dance for ya! (We are soooo sick of the rain here...it's been cold and rainy ALL WEEK LONG!)

Hehe, I'd appreciate the rain dance
Yeah, BCR is a great organization and very worth of charitable donations....I'm sure I'll end up adopting a kitty before the weekend is out!

Have fun
!

I really never have understood why ANYone would want to keep a tiger (who might at any time look at you and think "Hmmmm, dinner.") I don't even particularly want to keep a big dog and THEY're domesticated!

I did a weather check for you Amy. Here's what they're saying Tampa should look like this Fri-Mon:
Friday: Mostly sunny skies. High 87F. SSE winds shifting to W at 10 to 15 mph.
Friday night: Clear skies. Low 72F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday (24 hours): Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 70s.
Sunday (24 hours): Partly cloudy, chance of a thunderstorm. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 70s.
Monday (24 hours): Slight chance of a thunderstorm. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 70s.

So, I'll will those thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday to move more east and hit me here in Orlando than you there in Tampa! We're supposed to be getting them all weekend anyway, what's a little extra gonna hurt? Anyway, I hope the weather is beautiful for you and that you have a wonderful time! Can't wait to see the pics!! Of course, DRIVE CAREFULLY!!!!!

I'll be looking out for you on the interstate!

Hehe, thanks guys
And thanks Katherine for the weather report!
I certainly don't want Orlando to be stuck with any extra rain, though- hopefully it'll just all land on Miami
. I'll miss y'all!!!

This one is 10 miles from my house: http://sff.net/people/sfreader/cavecovecats.htm
It isn't very big, and they asked if we could volunteer around the place (building new fencing, etc). We gave them our number and never heard back from them.

Have a great time!! When I visit the cats at this place, I want to give them all scritches then realize that it is not a good idea!
