Bonnie sometimes coughs at night and expels hairballs, most night we can hear her in the kitchen doing this, i just clean it up in the morning.

last night she did it again but when i went to clean up the mess in the morning i found about half a meter of yellow ribbon in the pile of goey stuff, why would she eat a ribbon in the first place, she's never done anything like this before, that i know of...

I would be very very careful with an object eater around.
Make sure to keep all hair elastics, ribbons, strings etc out of reach as they can become tangled around intestines, or block passages..
It can be at best expensive surgery and at worst, fatal for some cats...

Some cats and other animals like to eat strange things...They have funny scents or neat textures to them...I had a dog once who would eat plastic bags, diapers, tissues, etc if you would let him (of course I never did).

Good luck!

I would certainly keep an eye on her. Some of these new materials they make ribbons out of are capable of doing great harm if swallowed by a cat. If she stops eating, becomes very sleepy, constipated, or her third eye shows, get her to the vet, along with the type of ribbon you believe she swallowed. Kitties think ribbons, hair ties, dental floss, shoelaces and string are mouse tails I believe. You may be facing a large vet bill if you don't keep these things safely tucked away in the future.
