It's awesome that you were able to call them on that, Susan! I definitely think that people try to put stuff like that over on buyers for sure. It's great that the bank cooperated with you as well--some banks here would tell you that they cant release private information on clients.

I love comeuppance!

I just dont understand why they made the decision they did. Im not an angry person, but it burns me up that they were saying that they liked us so much and wanted us in their house but werent honest about what their criteria (and whacked as it may be--downpayment amount) really was! grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! I wish I could tell them how two-faced they really are!

Pfffttt they picked the wrong one here for trying to pull the wool over my eyes!.

Thankfully i'm pleased it did fall through because i love this house because it has a big kitchen *claps*

Hannah, don't be disheartened by it because the way i look at it, when things like this happens, that house wasn't the one for you?!.

Like i say i loved the house, but when i walked through the door of the one i'm in now i just knew this was it, and they did me a favour by lying to me!.

Sorry you lost the house, Hannah. My hubby and I just bought our first house in early April. Trust me, there are tons of great houses out there and when you find the one you're meant to buy, everything will just fall into place. I looked at tons and tons of houses for months until we found ours. Good luck and be patient

I know there is an awesome house for us out there someplace.

It just burns me up how arbitrary their choice seems. Why lead us on and tell us you want us in the house and then change your decision criteria? How on earth does the downpayment amount affect them?

Susan, you will be my inspiration in looking for a better house!

Perhaps I can take some of Billy's special stink turds to grace their porch and let them know how I feel!
( I wouldnt really, but it IS fun to think about!)

Thats the housing game for you Fran, like i say it's a buyers market, but sadly some people just have money symbols in their eyes when their selling.

They say things happen for a reason, and you obviously weren't meant to have that house Hannah?. I bet it's spooked!!

I'll give you some of Rosie and Sophies deposits as well for good measure! LOL

Boy oh boy, wouldn't they realize they crossed the wrong buyer when they get all those "presents"? Could you fedex those deposits over? There is probably a law against fedexing stuff like that!

Well, you all have cheered me up immensely! Im sure that we will find the right house out there someplace. It's just such a difficult process, but its awesome to have people to inspire and commiserate with.

Thanks everyone! Gosh, it is just amazing how supportive everyone is here. (That's because Cat People are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I really appreciate the support and advice. Anything big happens and I'll keep you guys up on it.

Billy and Blossom know what to do--I went home in a bit of a funk yesterday and heard a loud thunk in the laundry room. They had pulled down their plastic container of Cosmic Catnip and were sitting by it looking at me like, "Hey, if you feel bad, how 'bout a round of catnip then?" Couldnt help but laugh.

THANKS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand? Can someone explain? We could put down 10,000 downpayment, but this other man could do more for a downpayment. But how does that make a difference to the seller?

I feel like I've been strung along!
That stinks... and it happened to us too... they think if you have more upfront, than you're a more "secure investment" (more likely not to default on your loan, etc.) Sometimes those agents are real jerks. Always remember, "If it's meant to be, it'll be" -
that's how we got Kismet's name.

I just bought my first house in December and it is really a game. I had two other couples interested in my house and the seller would NOT come down on his price. I was a NERVOUS wreck too...I thought I was having a breakdown. And I don't know why or how they pick they're buyers...it's all such a game. But I am sorry you lost it. The right house is out there for you and you will know when it is meant to be. Good luck...I know you'll find the PERFECT house soon!
