I drink a beer and leave maybe 1/4 inch of beer in the bottom of the bottle, set it somewhere your kitten isn't likely to spill it, leave it for about a week, repeat as needed.
The beer attracts the fruit flies and they drown.
If you don't drink, I'm pretty sure you can get the same effect with sugar water.

Does that work for houseflies too? You know, that nasty kind that lay maggots?
The warmer it gets, the worse they get down here. I can't stand it already!

Don't get many houseflies here, and the few we get are quickly killed by the cats.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it though.
For houseflies, I'd think you'd need the liquid a little deeper.

Well that's not as much fun.....maybe I'll have to drink a 6 pack.
I will try it though!

I don't have any good advice, sorry. I just wanted to tease you a bit.
Just get rid of them the old fashioned way, go get you a fly swat and splat 'em all.

I know here in WI I can go to a "farm" store or I bet a well stocked hardware store would have either.... Its looks like a roll of quarters but you pull an edge and this sticky rolls of paper comes out and all sorts of insects will stick to it. We would hang them up in the garage. Or you can buy a fly trap where its a plastic container with a funky top that has slits in it. It has a nasty smelling powder that you add water too and attracts LOTS OF FLYS!!!! Its for outside use only as the stuff it smelly!!! Don't get on your skin. It also has to be hung up-the cats liked the smell (I think rotten meat)EWWWWWWWWWWW. Then throw the whole thing away when full. It worked really well too.

If you repeat this often enough, you might still have flies, but you just don't care as much!
