I am not sure if Camilla is having her babies now or not.. shes at the shelter right now, I ran home to feed my foster kittens and let my dog out, and will be going back in about an hour to check on her and be with her incase it happens. She is only around 7-8 months old and a first time mom.

So here it is, I saw some discharge, sort of red, clearish though, really think and stringy. and she was on my lap kneading my knee when every once and awhile she would tense up and dig her claws into my skin. I am thinking its a contraction, but not sure, shes not really that big, so I doubt she has m,any kittens, or shes giving birth prematurely.

Anyway, does it sound like shes in labor, and how long will it take, I want to be there but I ahve foster kittens and a dog that need to be taken care of as well.

Thanks in advance,
Sarah

The mucous can last a week ahead, or hours ahead. However, the cringing. Now, does she just literally shudder, in a sense, or does her stomach contract and she cringes. If she just shudders... CJ did that for a while before she had them. The vet told me it's normal. Good luck!

That may not be such a good sign.

You might just want to call and consult with your vet if you can. Most, if not all, vets will give free advice over the phone.

Sarah,

Is there any one who can take her in tonight so she can be constantly monitored? Or can you bring her home and set her up in a bedroom or bathroom? A first time mom this young is at extra risk

Already done, She went to a foster home earlier on this evening. The lady said she had experience with birthing cats, so hopefully she will be okay.

I will let you know in the morning whats happened.

Well, Camilla gave birth to a stillborn deformed kitten, they rushed her to the vets to have xrays to see if there was anymore left inside her, there wasn't. They spayed her while she was there, will be picking her up tomorrow morning. Poor girl, lost her baby, but I guess its good in a way that this world is already overpopulated with unwanted kitties. So she will be ready for adoption.

I am just glad she delivered safely - no c/section, and now she'll recover and go on to a pampered life with someone

Me too.

She will get a special hope, because she is deaf, sometimes it takes awhile to find the perfect home for a 'disabled' cat, but the wait is well worth it, when they send pictures of them, and they look so happy, the happiest they have ever been.

Sorry to hear about Camilla's kitten, but all has turned out for the best. I hope she finds a home soon.
