You and Teufel will be fine - stand up and just do it! But please don't carry him down to the vet without a carrier/strong box, if that is what you were planning. However well behaved he is, something can always happen or you could fall. It is not worth the risk. If you don't have a carrier get a box, make holes in it and put him in, then make a handle by tying string all round it tightly.

ANd people are right, almost all vets in Germany, as in central Europe, speak at least basic English. Don't panic and you will do OK.

ack, at first i thought with a harness but i dont think so... if he gets too heavy i will stop by the supermarket and use the trolly. but i doubt a taxi will cost much anyway

Jenny's right - you definitely need a carrier or box. You should be able to get a "small animal carrier" for €10 - €15, at any pet store, or on line. Cats are such contortionists that any harness is only "relatively safe". fwan, don't worry about your accent! The only important thing about speaking a foreign language is that the message gets through. Taxi fees in Germany are pretty reasonable, IMO, and vets are obligated to charged fixed fees for certain services. Calm down, and everything should go well!

Good! At least that's sorted out. I'm a bit careful about carriers, because Jamie doesn't fit into a "normal" cat carrier any more, but needs one for a medium-sized dog now. He also wears a medium-sized dog harness. He met, and played with, a cocker spaniel yesterday, and it was really funny - he was bigger than the dog, but his head looked so tiny in comparison. Oh, well - we know there's nothing wrong with his brain.

well yes i was thinking abut the carrier, because teufel is getting fairly big now and i think the carrier is too small.

My bunny has a large cat carrier, but my mum wont swap.
If his carrier is too small by the time he is 1, i will get him a dog carrier for his birthday, along with a bed, cat it fountain and lots of mice toys.
He loves the colourful ones from petsmart so i should get him another set since we have lost them all and have no idea where they have gone

One suggestion. Right down all your questions, then have your boyfriend or someone write the german transaltion below it. Have the vet look it over and right down his answer - then you get it translated again. Dosen't babble fish or something have an on-line translator?

Quote - it sounds like she gets a kick out of you having to rely on her!.-

That is exactly like my grandmother, and this is something she would do, when my mothers cat got run over she was being a total b***h about it.

i suggest to try not to rely on her especially in important situations such as this one, let us all know how it goes ok?

(((hugs))) for both teafel and you, he is such a gorgeuos little cat!

love,

felicia

Don't fear about how you sound. Most Germans appreciate when you try to speak their language and will answer you back in English.

As far as the mil thing, I would have just taken the taxi and not told her a thing about it. Don't let her hold you back!

Under the cats, mostly.
Hey sweetie - You already know how I feel about your MIL
so I won't bother to reinforce that fact! Don't worry about speaking in German.... I can guaruntee you that your German is much better than you think. I'll get a hold of you later beb

Fran you know how I feel! And you know I am thinking of you and Ben all the time. You both do such an excellent job of taking care of each other and Teufel and I know this will all work out ok?

Fran,

You do have a whole thread going on. Sorry I didn't catch it before. Please take your time and relax. Teufel does not have to be neutered this week does he? I know it's his time to have it done, but it's not like it is life threatening. I hate to see you stressing about this. Take care of yourself.
