I finally figured it out, I got her where she's not afraid of the carrier, after 9 months. I have been putting her food in there, so once she goes into eat I'll close the door.
I have a new drop trap to get the babies, so I intend to put her and the carrier inside the drop trap and wait for babies to come, does that sound reasonible?I just pray that I can get all 5, or I'm screwed, then what do I do? OH Gosh PLease wish me luck, light candels, pray, cross fingers and whatever else there is,
I have a bedroom all ready for them, I actually covered full lenghth closet mirrors with paper so they won't go crazy, I guess that will work, I have litter boxes food, toys and some of my clothes in there, I only did that because I am the only one Mom trusts, hope that will be ok to.
Also I want to get her to the vet, hopeing she's not pregrant again, the kittens are 8 or 9 weeks old, can I take her now and should I put her back with them once I get her from the vet?
I hope with all my Heart this works out I have been a year with this female, and I just want to be done so I can feel good about what I have done...Thanks, I'll update after I get home ....Sorry it's so long

I am so upset, I got mommy no problem, but I could only get 3 of the 5 babies, I am devasted, Should I have let her there? They are in a pretty secluded area, I left a carrier and food, I will go back tomorrow, Oh I hope they will be ok

They probably won't stray too far, and will be there tomorrow. I honestly don't know if this has any value, but maybe if you use the same carrier you trapped mama in, put some food in it, that they may go in there looking for her?

You did a good thing Lois. If you let her go now, you'll probably never get her again, and you've been working too long and too hard to get her for that to happen.

I'm sure someone who has far more experience in this area than I do will be along shortly to offer more advice.

I don't think mom is very happy this morning, I'm sure she's missing the 2 I didn't get,
I didn't sleep at all last night, I feel so bad even this morming, I cryed almost all night. I just hope the 3 babies are ok

If you can, set a kennel or a carrier with mom outside for a couple of hours. Her smell and sound will likely attract the other two.

I just wanted to try and get some information about a few things in this thread and the last one I left about taking her to the vet and if I should put her back with these babies.

I would suggest that if mom is not a good candidate for rehoming..that you place her back where she came from...I would work with the kittens to try to find them all homes. Yes...momma will be sad for a while...but she will be ok and her babies will have a better life if they are in homes.

I think she is a good candidate for rehoming, she is very friendly and sweet, it will just take a bit for her to get used to other people, as I have been feeding her for almost a year now. If I have to I will keep her myself. This morning she is wanting pets and loving and that I have given her. I am concerned about the 2 babies out of 5 I couldn't get last night, will they stay around that same area? I want to and will get them, I just want to think that they will be able to be ok till I get them. I went this morning and took a towel that mommy had been sleeping on and put it in the carrier and left them food and glop and water, they just don't usually come out that early, I will be going back this evening. I want to get her to the vet and should I bring her home when she is done and put her back with these babies? How old are they when they should or will be weaned?

If they are really 8-9 weeks old then they are probably already weaned, that is usually around 5-6 weeks to my knowledge. My shelter adopts kittens out when they are at least 8 weeks old and 2 pounds heavy generally (because that is when you can spay/neuter).

i did the same thing, but first i found the kittens ,i put them in a carrier and mom went in to them and i closed the door, she fussed for about 5 seconds and then settlted down, the kittens at the time were 2-3 days old,now they are 7 wks old im trying to find them homes but it is very hard,i havent had any interests in them.mom has a home im having her spayed in 2 wks,she turned out to be a sweet heart after not having a home for many years.she had 4 kittens ,one died after birth, and the one bobtail that survived we are keeping,so im looking for 2 great homes for the 2 females that are left wish me luck.............

I can tell by the way mommy's boobys look that they have still been nursing, but I assume they would as long as she lets them. She seems very Happy this afternoon she's even purring, I'm sure she knows they are not all here, but I will be going tonight again, just hope the 2 are going to be ok till I get them

Why not try to place the 2 girls together.

I am so releived I can't even tell you I am so done after almost a year and now 16 cats later I have them all
They are all connected family wise also, I got the last of the new babies tonight and mommy was very happy to see them
making all kinds of noise and little chirping sounds. I have Mommy to spay and see whats up with the 5 new babies, I have had 6 females spayed, 4 males neutered, all there shots tested and wormed, I feel like this has been a really rough plane ride and it landed safely...One of the most emotinal things I have ever done in my life and today I feel like maybe I can sleep tonight..I just want to
for everyone that ever gave me a bit of information or inspiration or even a pat on the back... Thank you so much I don't know what I would have done without this site

Congratulations Lois!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping this was going to be the news when I logged on tonight! I'm so happy for you! You've done so much for these guys, you should be really proud of yourself!

How did you catch the last two? Were they in the carrier you left?

My hubby had made me a drop trap, I had left that carrier last night but I don't think they even ate last night, so when I went tonight I set up the drop trap and about 2 hours they finally went in and I pulled the string and it was the greatest feeling you can imagne, what a weight off me. Mommy seems quit content, she's purring and rolling all over in the bedroom, eating good, they are all using the litter boxes no problem with that, I guess she thinks she's at the ritz, but she was twice as happy when I brought those other 2 in tonight, they were all meowing and talking to each other.
I still have not figured out that picture thingee, I may ask if you can put some on for me of these new guy's and my Dunkin and Miniman that I kept from the last ordeal...And these 5 babies are just beautiful also...Thanks kelly everyone on this site is absolutely wonderful
