Our little mommy Pepsi, who had her first—and only—litter of kittens three weeks ago, jumped up on the bed last night after we went to bed. She meowed at us, but didn't want petted. (We thought maybe she was looking for a kitten; she'll take them back from us after she thinks we've had them long enough.
) She walked to the foot of the bed and looked at us as if to say, follow me. We didn't respond right away, so she walked back up to the head of the bed, meowed, then walked down to the foot of the bed again.
I got up and followed her into our closet, where the kittens are. Then I saw the trouble. They can now get out of the box! She wanted to nurse but couldn't get the rugrats to stay put. She'd pick one up and put it in, then as soon as she ran to get another one, the first one would climb back out. Poor baby! It's tough being a single mom.
Good thing she's got a "support system."
