Simmy loves to keep his toy(s) in his food, lol! It is the funniest most adorable thing to see when I get up in the morning. I come out to the kitchen and there's anywhere from 1 to 4 earplugs in his food dish, lol. He LOVES earplugs. Those foam white earplugs? He ADORES them! LOL. I was originially concerned with them being a swallow hazard, but they've always remained intact and he just loves them more than life itself.

He will leave what my fiance and I call a "deposit." Which means he drops an ear plug at our feet, and that is a silent but demanding request for us to flick it as far and as fast across the room as we can so he can go and "fetch" it and bring it back for more. LOL. My cat fetches, lol! How adorable is that?

Anyway, does anyone else's cat store his/her toys in the food dish? Wonder why he does that? LOL. It's like he's showing ownership, lol.

he's putting his 'prey' where 'prey' should be consumed, the food bowl!

as for the water bowl, my cats do that too! i think its to test the depth or because they are fascinated by water and like to see it ripple when things float.

I read somewhere that in a multi-cat household, a certain cat will place his toys in his food or water bowl to show that is HIS territory!!!

My boy Hammie has been doing this for 3 yrs... he takes his little furry mice, rips the tails off, and then drowns them in the water bowl. I LOVE to come home from work and see how many mice he's beaten & drowned while I was gone!!! Cracks me up.

He's the only one who does it, too. One time my daughter left pipe cleaners out, and Hammie drowned one of those, too.

mine don't put toys in food or water dishes, except by accident. however, Pixel does the 'cat fetch' thing - only she'll drop it 3-5 feet away from me, & want me to get it. i refuse to throw it for her unless i can reach it (1 foot away). if she really wants me to throw it, she'll bat it closer to me. when she's tired of playing, she'll stop bringing it closer!
she's my only fetcher!

Oh, i know, i hate that! He'll bring the "deposit" right to my feet, and it's always so nausiatingly adorable that he knows what he wants to do and knows how to ask for it, and that he's actually saying, "Mommy, can we play this game?" But then he'll drop it JUST out of my reach. Of course, I give in. It doesn't seem to "train" him that he can do that all the time because it's only occassional, but that does drive me crazy, lol.
