I just placed all my faith in the iron will I have to move forward and find a win-win. When you feel it so much, you will make the changes you need. Notice how whenever we have big changes, we all come here??
Eddie, but everything was already crumbling... just at a very slow rate. The stress of your job has been affecting your health, and your health is the most important asset you have. Unfortunately, our society praises workaholism. You're doing the right thing.

It was difficult for me to take this leave of absence, but I also had to take care of myself, because I know nobody else is looking out for my best interests. Getting sick every week with flu like symptoms due to stress doesn't help anyone.

I wish you all the best and I'm praying that you get this new position.

I have been stuck at a job that I hate for over 12 years but unfortunately this is the only business I know. There's isn't a plating shop on every corner like Starbucks, so it's not easy just for me to go get a new job.
It does feel great. But Leah, goodness!! 12 years? Doesn't Susan (Rosiemac) work in the same business in England? Like signage, or do I have it wrong - I know her company does plating! You should connect with her....arrange a job swap!

That is so very true, Jenn. It doesn't do any good when our health is ALL that really matters. Thanks to everyone else too!!! I had a final interview today at 4:00 pm, was so sick I felt it didn't go that well....so we'll see!

Oh geez, good luck leaving the job Elizabeth. Did mildred (lower case m intended) throw on the last few straws? I'm glad to hear your leaving if it is causing you so much stress and indirectly affecting your health. A three hour round trip commute could get to anyone. May you find a good job much closer to home.

Congratulations on taking the bull by the horns, E. You do have to take care of yourself, and if this job is having that much negative effect on you, it's time to move on. You've thought it all through, and this leap of faith is the right thing, I'm sure of it. I'll be thinking of you lots, and waiting to hear that you've landed the perfect new job.

I doubt she'd leave E, Susan has been with Harpers I think going on like 55 years!

I was going through the same reasoning last year at this time-talking about quitting and finding a enjoyable job. Fortunately for me the announcement to close my office made the decision for me!!
90 days until I'm out of here- I have a year severance pay so I can take my time in looking for a great job for me!!!!
You had sounded so miserable in your job & I shudder about that commute!!
So I'm glad you made that decision-I bet you feel alot better. I know the job situations in your area suck but there is a great opportunity for you .
Remember when one door closes another one opens!!!!
Say goodbye to milly from me

oh and BTW, that job offer did come through, my first choice (so grateful to even have a choice) and I start with Manpower June 28. I will be the Direct Hire recruiter for all Washington State to start their new division up here. I am very excited and this is a fabulous global company.!!!
