You need to keep momma in the house when she comes time. It is best if you keep her indoors now, until the kittens are weaned, and in homes. She needs to have the kittens indoors, because there are too many things in the wild that can kill them. If she delivers outside, chances are... they will stay outside. So, it's best if you keep her in.

Please keep her indoors until and after the kittens are born. She can go into heat again very soon after giving birth and will get pregnant again. Keep her indoors and create a place for her to give birth, a closet or box with towels or newspaper.

It is absolutely NOT safe for her to deliver outside! Predators, the elements, and disease could kill the babies and the mother! Get her indoors, keep her indoors and allow the kittens to be born in a clean, warm, comfortable nest. Once they are at age 12 weeks or so and you have found good homes for them, spay your girl and do not let her back outside until you do have her spayed or you will end up with more kittens.

well said! i grew up on my grandmother's farm she had a farm cat who was forever pregnant and when it came time she always brought the cat inside and made it a cozy spot in the linen closet, outside is not a safe place for babies!

I live out in the country, where there are lots of barn cats. The neighbors have already had two litters of kittens this spring, and unfortunately all were killed. They think it may have been a feral tomcat that killed them.

This is on a working dairy farm, where generally they have lots of kits outside, so it just goes to show it can be very risky to be born outdoors.

I would suggest bring her in early enough that she can adjust to being an inside cat before the kittens come, so it will be less stressful for her.
