I'm so proud of my youngest niece, Kaleigh, who will turn 5 next month.
Over the weekend I took her to our main foster home to visit the kittens.
She's been raised around cats and a dog, so I knew she wouldn't be afraid, but I was a little concerned that in her excitement about the babies, she might scare them. So, we had a talk beforehand about how she could play with them, but not be too noisy around them and definitely not chase them.
I also showed her how to pick them up and hold them. Kaleigh did great and was so gentle and patient with the shy kittens, talking to them softly and reassuring them. I loved seeing the look of pure joy on her face as she played with them!

Her parents have obviously done a wonderful job teaching her to love and respect animals, a lesson that she will carry with her as she grows up. I'm so proud of her!

that's great! when we got a kitten for my 2 year old several places wouldn't let us adopt a pet for someone so young, but Mookie finally came to us and everyone that sees them together is amazed i taught her how to hold the kitten and they are best friends and she is so soft and gentle with her, the joy of a little girl with a kitten is so precious!

That is great. My kids aged 5 to 16 are the ones who spend so much lime loving on the foster kittens, making them extra good when they grow up! You have a reason to be proud of her!

Awww! That is so sweet! Most of the kids I know who have been taught to love and respect animals the way your niece does have grown up to be the same way when they are older.
