NOW SAY IT WITH ME ...

"I will NOT get bad luck, lose my friends, or lose my mailing lists if I DON'T forward an email! I will NOT hear any music or see a taco dog, if I DO forward an e-mail.
Bill Gates is NOT going to send me money, Victoria's Secret doesn't know anything about a gift certificate they're supposed to send me, and Ford will not give me a 50% discount even if I forward my e-mail to more than 50 people!
I will NEVER receive gift certificates, coupons, or freebies from Coca Cola, Cracker Barrel, Old Navy, or anyone else if I send an e-mail to 10 people. I will NEVER see a pop-up window if I forward an e-mail ...NEVER!!!!
My phone will not MYSTERIOUSLY ring after I forward an e-mail. There is NO SUCH THING as an e-mail tracking program, and no one is going to send me $100 for forwarding an e-mail to 10 or more people!
There is no kid with cancer through the Make-a-Wish program in England collecting anything! He did when he was 7 years old. He is now cancer free and 35 years old and DOESN'T WANT ANY MORE POST CARDS, CALLING CARDS, or GET-WELL CARDS.
The government does not have a bill in Congress called 901B (or whatever they named it this week) that, if passed, will enable them to charge us 5 cents for every e-mail we send.
There will be NO cool dancing, singing, waving, colorful flowers characters, or program that I will receive immediately after I forward an e-mail.
The American Red Cross will NOT donate 50 cents to a certain individual dying of some never-heard-of disease for every e-mail address I send this to. The American Red Cross RECEIVES donations.
There is no way anyone could track thousands of petitions going this way and that throughout the internet. Save your time and energy and do something for someone in your neighborhood who needs a helping hand.
And finally, I WILL NOT let others guilt me into sending things by telling
me I am not their friend or that I don't believe in Jesus Christ. If God wants to send me a message, I believe the bushes in my yard will burn before He picks up a PC to pass it on!
Now, repeat this to yourself until you have it memorized, and send it along to at least 5 of your friends before the next full moon or you will surely be constipated for the next three months and all of your hair will fall out!

I second every sentence of that, Miss Whitney!!! In fact I third, fourth and fifth it, also!

Some chronic emailers drive me crazy. Especially when I get emails that are easily proven wrong! I remember the KFC one that was going around ~ the chickens don't have feathers, bones or even beaks. Yeah. Uh huh. HOW DO THEY EAT? Oh - well that's easy. They're on IV's. Uh huh... from the time they were hatched??? (speaking of which: how did they hatch without beaks? Oh, don't tell me... they were formed in a petri dish, right?) ARRRGGGH! Let's get real, people. I actually sent a reply to the person that forwarded me that particular email explaining that it was all a lie, and gave links to not only the KFC website where they refuted all the allegations, but to the urban legends and hoaxes site where they plainly state it's a hoax. Do you think MY email got forwarded to 500 people? Heck no. It wasn't any fun!

It just amazes me that such idiotic people can figure out how to turn on their computers in the first place. *sigh* Sorry for the rant, but I think we all just discovered one of my biggest pet peeves!

I hate mass emails! Especially things like chain letters. If I get anything that has FW: in the subject I delete it without even opening it. Even from my friends. It's just the equivelant of junk mail to me. Clutters up my box and I don't have time to read it and forward it on to some other unsuspecting person.

I have to agree. I've had those kinds of e-mails sent to me by people I work with and my SUPERVISOR. With everything going on at this newspaper, i.e., people being laid off, transferred to outside bureaus, downsizing, voluntary retirements, and just about everyone's job not being safe, I don't have the time to either read those stupid things, nor send them to 10 people. And if my supervisor is sending them, she has an awful lot of time on her hands. She is obviously either NOT doing her job or needs to be given something more constructive to do.

Like AP said, I ignore and delete them, as they are junk and clutter up my e-mail box.

Miss Whitney, that was really good, and I am glad you posted it here....I get that kind of stuf all the time, and I just delete it, I hate chain letters saying so and so died because they didn't send this on....it is so pathetic.

Hi Ms. Whitney :angel2:

Oh, I hope you didn't get me wrong :laughing2 I do read the mail only if it's from my friends. Most of what they send is NOT junk...only pretty good stuff like this. I usally ask someone not to send me chain letters, but on occassion, I rise to the event if it had something very important related to it...ie Sept. 11.

Since being on the net for some time now, I've seen so much stuff recycle it's way back to me even after five years! But, like you, I do appreciate this stuff...it really does hit home :laughing2

Love & Peace,
Catarina
