Are there any surefire signs that your cat is going to go into labor? I'd like to be given some notice, because since I have school I don't want to be gone when Tehya is having her babies!!! I don't know the date she was bred, she was already a couple weeks along when we got her off of the street, so I can't use that to determine anything. Thanks so much!

Signs of Impending Labor

Nesting: she may or may not try to find somewhere to give birth.

Behavioral Changes:
These include restless pacing, panting, excessive grooming (especially in the area of her genitals), and excessive vocalization. Mine was very, very affectionate and wanted to be stroked, petted and held.

Physical Signs of Labor: There may be a drop in normal body temperature. The cat may vomit. The abdomen may "drop" a few days before labor, and the nipples may become larger and pinker. She might stop eating or eat ravounsley. She might look like shes straining a lot in the litter box, especially if shes a first time mum.

Active Labor: Contractions will start and you will see the appearance of the amniotic sac. You may also see a discharge of blood or other colored fluid.

Have you prepared a nest for her? make sure you read the stickies at the top of this form.

Not sure... I know when CJ was having hers, I was freaking out, even though it isn't the first litter. LOL!
