Hubby is an avid gardener, and I've been threatening for years to buy a really disgustingly "sweet" garden dwarf just to show how "middle class" he is. I just made good on my threat - I bought a little ceramic pig on vacation, and positioned it in front of our house. I'll have to photograph it and post the picture. I've dubbed the pig "Peedoodle II", since Kellye (Kiwideus) is as much of a pig fan as I am, and one of her cats is named "Peedoodle".

I do a lot of gardening myself. I'm not big on having statues in my garden, but there is one that tempts me every time I see it in the catalog. It's a little concrete pig on a little swing. You attach the swing to the branch of a tree.

Pardon the background, he hasn't found his niche yet :-) so I've just got him by the deck temporarily. Also I plan on painting him in faux verdigris or something to make him stand out a bit. Actually most of my garden ornaments tend toward fairies, but no garden is complete without at least ONE gnome
: My sister actually gave me this. I didn't even know about it, but the last time they came down she says "Let's do walkabout!" So, walking around the yard, showing off my plants and what I've been doing, we come around to the back ... "What the---? Where the heck did THAT come from???" It took me a while to get her to own up. She was very literal, "Well _I_ didn't put it there!" No, of course not, she made her hubby Bill do it since it's made of concrete and she wouldn't be able to lift it LOL!

They come in larger sizes and I want a big one. Bill doesn't seem to get the hint. I suppose that I'll have to buy it for myself.
Oooh, Cindy, I like that one! I've been tempted by the gargoyle figures, but that's the first cat gargoyle I've seen.

Oooohhh! I like that one too! I didn't know they came in a garden size. My sis has a small one that looks more like a gargoyle cat about to leap, on top of her fridge ... she says it's supposed to keep her on her diet
. I have a happy gargoyle by my front door taking the place of the fairie that got knocked off (sigh.) It seems that Fairies tend to live a hard life around here; I know I've broken at least three

I have a gnome that I put out in my flower bed every year. I'll have to snap it's pic. It's old and falling apart, but I can't throw it away.......(it's family)

My husband insisted that I name the pig (we had just been out to dinner, and shared a bottle of wine), and I was thinking, "Kellye would probably like this", which is why Peedoodle came to mind. We were walking around town when I spotted the pig, and continued our walk after I bought it. I was cradling it in my arms, and some people actually thought I was carrying a piglet around! They'd do a double-take, come closer, and then laugh when they realized it was a "garden dwarf". The guy I bought it from (Hungarian) was in hysterics - he'd just put it on display, and thought nobody would buy it. He did know that pigs are considered "lucky" in Germany - instead of rabbits' feet, many people carry little figures of pigs, and you see many greeting cards with pig motifs.

When I turned 40 my hubby had a surprise party for me and everyone had to bring yard stuff. You know the daisy's on a stick, flamingo's, etc. I actually think while a couple of flamingo's is bad a whole flock of them (like 20 or more) would be cool!! You could arrange the flocks. I have metal stuff in some of my beds (I weld) but around here the dutch boy and girl kissing are popular as well as the bathtub Virgin Mary's!!
