This is why....

Milo will definately have to be taken to the shelter tomorrow. Yesterday he followed me into the bathroom as usual, was purring a rubbing against ,my leg apparently in a very good mood. When I open the door Spyder was across the hallway wanting to get into my mom's bedroom. As soon as I opened the bathroom door Milo flew out and attacked Spyder. Spyder's back was turned and didn't see Milo coming. Spyder got away quickly, I checked him over later and couldn't find any injuries....But as Milo attacked Spyder I grabbed something to block him so my brother could get Spyder and put him safely in another room, Milo got around what I was holding (I can't even remember what it was) and attacked my arm pretty badly. It's mainly scratches but he did bite my arm a couple times, though he didn't make puncture wound they are deep gouges and my wrist area is puffed up somewhat.

After we got Milo stashed in another room, I just broke down and could not stop crying because I knew in my heart that we couldn't keep him any longer.
I am still constantly on the verge of tears. I feel like I have failed him somehow and it my fault that he has to go. It's not just my opinion but everyone who lives here are in agreement, Milo is not really my cat, he's my nephew's, though I call all of the kitties here mine.

I didn't go to the ER yesterday, I was afraid they call animal control and then we would lose all of our kittie, because we are a bit over the legal limit. My sister had left over atibiocs which I am taking and my injuries are not getting any worse, but I will go to the doctor tomorrow if necessary.

Just needed to get this out, thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry to hear things have not worked out with Milo. Please keep a close eye on your injuries. I don't think you've failed the kitty. Perhaps what ever happened to him previous to you getting him, has put some major damages on him. Sounds like he will have to be in a one kitty home.

Diane,

I'm so sorry about this. I'm sure you are heartbroken. Milo probably does need to be in a home with no other cats as Hope mentioned.

Thanks Pat and meiam.

The scratches and bites aren't really any worse so I guess that antibioic is helping. But my wrist feels like I wrenched the muscle and can't move it too much without it hurting. I'll probaby make a doctor appointment tomorrow because I only have a day's worth of the antibiotic left.

I'm keeping them totally seperated. Milo is kept in a bedroom all day today (with all of his necessitites.
Spyder is being kept mainly in my bedroom but we're very careful when I have him out of the room to make sure that when the other door is opened Milo doesn't get out. And reverse it when I let Milo out for a bit.

The most heartbreaking thing is we've had Milo for the last 3 years and for the first 2 years he and Spyder were the best of buddies.
I know it's the best thing to do but it's just so hard, Spyder doesn't deserve the attacks he's been getting, he's such a sweet kitty.
And I fear that if it keeps up he may have turned mean as well.

Oh well, well, enough rambling from me for now.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone, they are very much needed!

Sorry to hear about Milo. I'm sure you're at your wits' end, and heartbroken at the thought of losing him. But it does seem that he needs to be an only kitty. I wonder what brought about the change

Do take care of your injuries, and please be gentle with yourself.

Oh, Diane, I'm so very sorry. I know this is just breaking your heart. Please don't blame yourself, this is not due to anything you did or didn't do. I'm so glad you're caring for those scratches.
